Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been driven by their mission for philanthropy and humanitarian work since they bonded to each other.

By collaborating with a myriad of global organizations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have for years now advocated for various, wide-ranging efforts and their latest is no less touching.

In a new update via their own foundation, The Archewell Foundation, the couple detailed how they supported young students in Nigeria making their return to school.

A statement on Archewell’s website announced: “As students around the world returned to school this month, The Archewell Foundation supported girls’ education and health by sending school supplies and menstrual products to young scholars in Nigeria with The GEANCO Foundation. “

It detailed: “GEANCO provides critical health care and education services in Nigeria,” and added: “Its David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship provides full tuition, medical care, and social and emotional support to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria.”

“Afam Onyema, CEO of GEANCO, joined the Archewell staff to help fill backpacks with supplies and menstrual products.”

“AWF’s support will also provide menstrual health education for 2,500 girls in the region GEANCO serves, supporting the health and well-being of girls pursuing their education,” the statement concluded.

The details were accompanied by a slew of photos of young girls posing with their new backpacks stocked with friendship bracelets, pencil pouches, and water bottles among other back-to-school goodies.

Meghan and Harry, through Archewell, have also in the past partnered with Global Citizen to provide millions of COVID-19 vaccines, have contributed to the resettlement of 174,497 refugees through their work with Operations Allies Welcome, partnered with José Andrés’ NGO World Central Kitchen, among other initiatives, per Vanity Fair. The two also have long had ties to varying countries across Africa, via both their philanthropic efforts and personal travels, and Harry has previously referred to the continent as a “second home” to him.

In the photos shared by DailyMail.com, the artist was seen accompanied by her two sons, nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha, as they were greeted by an excited crowd of fans

Shakira, who shares her children with ex Gerard Pique, appeared stunning in tight green vest and baggy cargo trousers. She complemented her look with a pair of stylish shades and added a little extra height with white platform sneakers.

The singer’s visit came after she took a dig at her former partner with the title revelation of her latest track.

Earlier, Shakira released a “diss track” about her former footballer flame and his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti.

The Sun reported that the singer gives out a strong new message with her latest single, titled The Boss.

Meanwhile, the songstress performed her previous “diss track” at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday.

The song, released in January, was called Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions which took swipe at Gerard. Shakira also crooned, “I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s debut Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan has been nominated for a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award.

The news broke on Twitter, with their very personal documentary appearing in the list of nominees for Best Streaming Nonfiction Series in the Hollywood Critics Awards.

The post read: “The 2023 HCA TV Awards nominees for Best Streaming Nonfiction Series are: Harry & Meghan, Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Rennervations, The 1619 Project ,The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.”

The documentary was a massive hit for Netflix, with 2.4 million people tuning in for the release day. Interestingly, it received higher figures than The Crown as they only raked in 1.1 million viewers for the premiere day.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has high praise for Bruce Willis following the actor’s announcement that he is retiring from acting due to a brain disorder called aphasia.

Hollywood star and human rights activist Angelina Jolie is launching Atelier Jolie, a fashion-based business venture with a very Jolie-appropriate twist. As of now, there isn’t too much information about what to expect from this new project, but here’s everything we know so far.

The creation of the Instagram page, @atelierjolieofficial, debuted the news on Wednesday, introducing the collective as an attempt to “democratize the fashion industry” and provide customers access to emerging designers and artisans. The basis of Atelier Jolie will be an online resource to help source garment makers who make use of dead stock and vintage materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

Jolie shared more information about the project on her personal account, where she posted the Atelier Jolie’s logo, designed by Peter Miles. “Atelier Jolie is a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world,” she wrote, adding that the idea came from her “deep respect for the many tailors and makers” she’s worked with over the years.

On the project’s website, Jolie went more into the reasoning behind Atelier Jolie. “Everyone can create. Why then do we covet designer labels?” she asked. “Why simply buy the design of another person, when you can create yourself?”

It seems in general, Atelier Jolie will act as a liaison between creatives and consumers, connecting those who want one-of-a-kind pieces with those who have the talent and product to make them. “We hope to create a community of creativity and inspiration, regardless of socio-economic background,” Jolie wrote. In addition, there will be an emphasis on highlighting and supporting the creatives involved in the project, through apprenticeships and spotlights.

We will have to wait a little while until we can see Jolie’s new idea in action. On Instagram, the actress revealed the project won’t go live until fall 2023. It seems though, there will be more light shed on this venture before that, as she promised to provide “more soon” on Instagram.

Why is Angelina Jolie doing this?

It’s not rare for celebrities these days to lend their name to the consumer space, often slapping it on products to sell to their fans. Atelier Jolie, however, does seem like a natural fit for the actress—more a passion project than a cash grab. Jolie is very active in refugee work through the UN Refugee Agency, and she promised Atelier Jolie will include opportunities for “refugees and other talented, under-appreciated groups.”

In addition, the actress is no stranger to the fashion space. She has been a red carpet staple for decades, and at this point worked with every other designer under the sun. Recently, she has been embracing more of a sustainable approach to fashion, wearing vintage pieces, and giving her dresses a second life by lending them to her daughters to wear on the red carpet.

So while to some, Atelier Jolie, might seem a bit out of left field, the ethos behind the project fits squarely into what we know about and have come to expect from the actress.

Meghan Markle looked stunning in a strapless gold dress worth $1,850 as she stepped out for the Women of Vision gala which she will receive an award for her “lifelong advocacy for women and girls”.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, looked the picture of happiness as she was joined by husband Prince Harry and her mum Doria on the red carpet of the event at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

She matched her glam look with a pair of gold Tom Ford heels and a clutch in the same colour by Carolina Herrera. She wore her long tresses wavy and over one shoulder to beautifully show off her hooped earrings.

Harry looked dapper as he wore a tradition two-piece suit and tie combination. Mum Doria closely followed the pair in a smart black dress and her hair up in a bun.

They were met by an adoring crowd that had gathered outside of the venue hoping for a glimpse of Meghan – only to be overjoyed by the Duke of Sussex’s arrival too.

Meghan was at the annual gala as she was set to be given the accolade by her pal Gloria Steinem.

The former Suits star is one of a number of women to be honoured at the prestigious event which celebrates generations of progress and power.

Meghan’s accolade comes after she was recognised for “her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” through her work at her and Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation.

A report earlier this year showed that Harry and Meghan had raised $13million and given away $3million to charitable causes through Archewell.

Meghan and Harry’s charitable foundation, which was set up after they stepped down from their royal roles. Reports earlier this year showed the causes that have been helped by the money they have donated since it was founded in 2020, which include Covid vaccines and Afghan refugees.

According to Social Blade, Rihanna has now 108,278,326 followers on Twitter beating Katy Perry, who also has an impressive 108,261,949 followers.

While Rihanna is the most-followed woman on Twitter, overall, she’s actually in fourth place. Elon Musk, Barack Obama and Justin Bieber are in first, second and third place respectively. After Rihanna comes Perry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Taylor Swift.

Rihanna’s recent spark in followers could be due to a few things, including her Super Bowl halftime show in February, her Oscars performance, or news of her second pregnancy. Additionally, Rihanna has been using social media to update fans on motherhood. She and boyfriend A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child in May 2022. Shah Rukh Khan, 57, topped the list of the most influential people around the world for TIME magazine’s 100th edition list. Shah Rukh Khan received 4 percent of the 1.2 million votes cast by readers in the 2023 TIME100 poll.

Shah Rukh Khan, who has made his name as Bollywood’s favorite romantic hero and has starred in blockbusters such as Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, continues to rule hearts with his acting skills, wit and candid manner in podcasts and interviews.

Notably, Shah Rukh Khan has an estimated net worth of £627 million ($770 million), making him the richest actor in Asia and the fourth richest actor in the entire world.

In January 2023, Shah Rukh Khan took fourth place in the list of the eight richest actors in the world published by World of Statistics after beating out other immensely famous and iconic actors like Tom Cruise, Jackie Chan and George Clooney.

Lionel Messi, whose outstanding performance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar earned him and the Argentina team the coveted trophy, secured fifth place. Messi received 1.8% of the vote.

In second place are Iranian women protesting for their rights. They received 3% of the votes. The women also won the magazine’s Person of the Year 2022 reader poll.

Third came healthcare workers, who have been on the front lines of the pandemic since 2020, with 2% of the vote.

Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took fourth place, each receiving 1.9% of the vote. Harry made headlines around the world earlier this year after releasing his memoir, Spare.

Shah Rukh Khan has acted in over 100 films in a career spanning four decades. In 2023 he returned to the big screen after a nearly four-year absence.

Shah Rukh Khan has two more films in the pipeline, Raj Kumar Hirani’s Dunkee and Atlee’s Jawan. Jawan also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi and is set for a June 2023 release. Dunki stars Taapsee Pannu alongside Shah Rukh and will be released in December.

Oscar-winning US actress Angelina Jolie announced that she is stepping down as an ambassador for the UN refugee agency UNHCR after more than 20 years in that role.

Angelina Jolie and the United Nations High Commissioner (UNHCR) for Refugees released a joint statement announcing the end of their 20-year partnership.

Global icon Jolie has supported and assisted the United Nation for over two decades in all efforts directed towards supporting refugees across the world.

The Academy Award-winning actor has worked as a philanthropist and her alliance with the UN has been slated to be one of her priorities all these years. Having travelled to over sixty missions on the field, Jolie has witnessed the thousands of stories of people who have endured suffering and overcome obstacles, especially in war-torn countries.

Having been a witness to stories of torture at war zones, Jolie has also testified to the UN Security Council about rapes that have taken place in war zones. She recently travelled to Burkina Faso and Yemen with the UNHCR to meet the refugees in the region in person. 

The joint statement revealed that Jolie will now focus on the same causes separately. Stating that she will continue to do everything in her power in the coming years to support the displaced and the refugees,

Jolie announced that it was time to work in a different setup after twenty years. “I feel it’s time to work differently, engage directly with local organisations and with refugees and directly support their advocacy.”

Filippo Grandi, The UN High Commissioner for Refugees stated that he appreciated Jolie’s decision to move forward and adopt a more inclusive role in engaging with the case of humanity separately. “I understand that the cause of refugees will always be close to her and I am sure she will bring the same attention to a broader humanitarian portfolio in all capacities,’ he said.
