Your beauty routine needn’t stop when you go to bed
Do you know just how much the hours of sleep can contribute to your beauty regime? We’re all aware that sleeping well is essential for both physical and mental health and well-being, but good nocturnal cosmetic habits are also important.
So if you want to rise and shine and greet the morning with radiant skin, take a look at our recommendations:
The importance of cleansing
Before bed, a thorough cleansing routine is essential to clean the skin and leave it free of all traces of make up and all the grime that has accumulated through the day. Even if you don’t use cosmetics, cleansing is important: naturally produced oils combine with microscopic particles from the air to block pores, resulting in pimples, blackheads and other blemishes. This build up can also prevent the proper exchange of oxygen and ‘suffocate’ your skin.
Age and skin type
For young skin, simple cleansing is probably enough and there’s no need to apply any special products overnight. This will allow the skin to breathe and regenerate naturally. Older skins need a little more help, though, and you’ll need to apply a night cream to repair the damage caused during the day. Dry skin will need to be moisturised while an astringent cleanser should be used on oily skin and a toner applied. If you suffer from acne or other skin problems, it’s important to use specific products, so consult your dermatologist. In all cases, remember that products applied to clean skin will have a greater effect.
Night creams
Nocturnal epithelial cell regeneration means the night is a time when the skin is more receptive to cream treatments. Night creams are specifically designed to take advantage of this and tend to include a larger number of active ingredients than those designed for daytime use while omitting the elements that protect against the sun.
Around the eyes
With clean, receptive skin in its regeneration stage, night time is a good time to apply products to the area around the eye. This includes botox eye creams and serums, anti-wrinkle treatments and products aimed at reducing under-eye bags and dark circles. Be careful, though to avoid heavy products that may irritate the area and cause inflammation.

Walking barefoot on the sand isn’t just fun – it’s good for you!
What could be more relaxing than a barefoot walk along a sandy beach? Besides being a treat for the senses, this simple pleasure is actually a very healthy option that adds to the attractions of a beach holiday and can help make up for some of the tempting excesses of local food. To begin with, walking – whether on the sand or elsewhere – can improve blood circulation, making it a particularly suitable exercise for people suffering with varicose veins.
Massage your soles. If you walk briskly on the beach, you’ll get the added benefit of the sand massaging the soles of your feet, which activates venous and lymphatic circulation. And if you’re right at the water’s edge, as the waves break, the sea water will massages your ankles, making the exercise even more complete.
Water walking. The water around your ankles is beneficial, but if you’re willing to get a bit wetter, walk out until the water reaches up to your thighs. Walking at this depth, lifting your legs with each stride, is tiring, but it’s fantastic exercise to strengthen the muscles of the legs and buttocks.
Free exfoliation. There are beauty benefits, too, as the friction of the sand is a marvellous natural exfoliant. Walking barefoot will result in softer feet in no time, just like a home peel treatment!
Mineral magic. There’s another benefit to seawater, too, as it contains minerals (iodine and sodium) that help prevent ageing – not to mention the fact that it’s relaxing!
Wet or dry sand? Obviously, if you’re right down at the water’s edge, you’ll be walking on wet sand. This is actually easier and takes less effort. But as you get fitter and start to notice the benefits of the water, you may want to extend your walks farther up the beach where the sand is dryer. Since dry sand is less stable and the shape shifts as you walk, it involves more effort. Remember that while this is good in terms of exercise, it also means there is a higher risk of injury, mainly to the ankle ligaments.
A trick or two:
o Move your hands when walking to avoid them swelling.
o Avoid walking in the middle of the day. To avoid sunburn or heat stroke, the best time is first thing in the morning or in the evening.
o It can be pleasant to take a walk in company. What’s more, having someone with you may encourage you to overcome any possible laziness. (As long as your companion doesn’t cut the walk short and head straight for the nearest beach bar!)
o Always apply sunscreen before you set off, carry a bottle of water and wear a hat. Remember that you can still get sun burnt when it’s cloudy, and the sun bounces back up from the water. Don’t forget to reapply the sunscreen when your walk is over – particularly if you’ve been walking in the sea.

High summer temperatures make it essential to replenish lost fluids
Depending on where you’re living, you may well be wondering if we are actually going to have a summer this year. Wherever you are, though, the chances are that the sun will suddenly appear and take you by surprise. And if you aren’t prepared for it, your skin will suffer.
The skin is largely composed of water and has its own natural mechanisms to maintain correct hydration levels and protect against external elements.
The hydro-lipid layer – a protective film consisting of water and lipids (natural oils and fats) – slows the evaporation of moisture, protects from external aggressions and keeps the skin’s pH within the correct limits, minimising the risk of infections.??
The problem is, though, that it’s very easy for skin moisture levels to drop. Climatic conditions –  heat, dryness, pollution, air conditioning – and lifestyle and eating habits such as alcohol, tobacco and poor nutrition can all have detrimental effects on our skin’s natural defences.
And in summer it’s particularly important to take care of our skin, as sunshine, high temperatures and increased perspiration are all adding to the risks.?? Take note of these ten rules to keep your skin looking beautiful all summer long:
1.Drink two to two and a half litres of fluid daily. Fluid loss increases with temperature, humidity and physical activity, and your fluid intake requirements increase correspondingly.?
2.Drink throughout the day, even if you aren’t thirsty. If you feel thirsty, it’s an indication that dehydration has already started.?
3.Keep a bottle of your favourite drink handy, to help remind you to drink.??
4.Water is not the only option: herbal teas, soft drinks, juices, milk etc. will all help maintain and replenish body fluid levels.
5.Fruit and vegetables have a high water content so they also contribute to hydration.??
6.Avoid alcohol: its diuretic qualities cause dehydration.??
7.If you play sports, you should drink before, during and after activity, as a great deal of fluid is lost through sweat. Remember that sports drinks can help replenish minerals and glucose levels as well as lost fluids.??
8.Use moisturising creams on your skin to rehydrate from the outside, too.??
9.In summer, avoid exposure to the sun when it is at its highest – between 12 noon and 4 pm – as this is when it is most damaging to the skin.??
10.Always use sunscreen with UVA and UVB filters to prevent premature skin ageing and damage from solar radiation.

There’s a brand-new book out called (deep breath) Seeking Happily Ever After: Navigating the Ups and Downs of Being Single Without Losing Your Mind (and Finding Lasting Love Along the Way). To write it, author Michelle Cove interviewed more than 100 women and talked to them about how relationships based on what they think they should want often leave them unhappy. She tried to determine what it was that they truly wanted — in the process, getting readers to think a little more deeply about what their dream relationship might really be like.
After interviewing so many women, Cove began to think that most of them fit into one of 12 categories, which she defines for us below.
The Soul-Mate Seeker: Someone who is doing everything she can to find The One.
The Phoenix: A woman who recently had a painful breakup and is doing everything she can to rise from the ashes in better shape.
The Organic: She prefers to leave things up to destiny and live her own life rather than hunting for men in any methodical or calculated way.
The Princess-in-Waiting: She is waiting to be rescued by a prince (who sure is taking his royal time).
The Late Bloomer: The rest of her life is on hold while she waits for her future husband to appear.
The Free Spirit: She worries that she can only have one or the other — her independence or a committed relationship. (And she thinks the former is better.)
The Wedding Wisher: She suddenly finds herself fantasizing about marriage after a lifetime of not caring about it.
The Town Rebel: She no longer aspires to live the cookie-cutter lifestyle of everyone else in her community, though she once used to.
The Ritual Re-inventor: A woman who wants to get hitched but also feels very strongly about having an unconventional marriage (right down to the wedding ceremony).
The Someday-Mom: She would like to have babies someday, but wishes she didn’t feel so much biological pressure to figure it out fast.
The Slow & Steady: A woman who hopes to marry when the time is right. Meanwhile, she does her best not to cave to the massive pressure she feels from friends, family, and society.
The Trailblazer: A woman who knows married life is not for her, so she’s trying to break a new kind of path to happiness.
Which one of these are you? Which one am I? I’d love to say, “Oh, I’m The Organic — if it’s going to happen, it’ll happen.” But as I think finding a good guy becomes a numbers game after a certain point, I do put some energy into looking for people — which might make me something of a Soul-Mate Seeker. At the same time, I’m Slow & Steady — I’m well past the age when most of my friends (and most women) get married, and I’m in no rush. (I’m not so sure I want kids, which makes it easier to stay calm.) I am fairly certain that if I do get married, I will be a Ritual Re-inventor — I’m not necessarily interested in conventional anything. My dude and I will do what feels right, conventions be damned! But I’d also say I am a real Free Spirit, and I fear a relationship will absolutely mean an unpleasant curtailment of my freedom. And weirdly enough, I think I used to be a Princess-in-Waiting as a cover for being a Commitment-Phobe — I kept saying to myself, “The problem is that I can’t find the perfect man who will help me to stop being sad and make everything all right in the world.” In reality, I think the real problem was that no man ever seemed perfect enough because I wasn’t really all that interested in getting into a relationship — and risking all the potential emotional trauma that might come with it.
So … that’s me, in a nutshell. Again, which of these categories do you fit into? – Written by Maura Kelly

The engagement ring or the wedding ring is more than just a piece of jewelery. It is worn to symbolize commitment and love of a couple. For a women, an engagement ring is the best gift that she can expect from her would-be husband. And when this engagement ring gets replaced by the wedding ring, it becomes all the more evident that you are married and committed to your partner. By wearing an engagement ring or an wedding ring, a promise is sealed in stone, so as to tell the world that the person has made a commitment to someone else. Just like a woman, the man also wears an engagement ring to signify the impending nuptials and the wedding ring to signify that he is already wedded. Today, the jewelry market has come up with a wide assortment of such rings made of precious stones and metals.
Why the Ring Finger?
It is seen since time immemorial that while there are finger rings which can be worn in all fingers for fashion and style, the wedding or the engagement ring is always worn on the fourth finger on the left hand of a person. That is why this finger is said to be the ring finger. The most popular belief is that the fourth finger is considered to be the “vein of love” or “veina amoris”. It means that the veins are directly connected to the heart. Hence, there is this tradition of wearing the engagement ring or wedding ring on the ring finger which leads straight to the heart, which is the symbol of love.
Chinese Explanation
The Chinese have given a very convincing explanation as to why the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger? The five fingers represent the following:
o Thumb: Parents
o Index or Second Finger: Siblings
o Middle Finger: You
o Ring or Fourth Finger: Your Life Partner
o Little Finger: Your children
The Trick
Open your palms, bend the middle fingers and hold them together. Next, hold the thumb and the remaining three fingers tip to tip as shown below:
Now try to separate the fingers one by one. First, separate your thumbs. They will open. The thumbs represent your parents. This shows that your parents have to leave you sooner or later. Next you join your thumbs as before and open the index fingers which represent your siblings. This implies that your brothers and sisters will live their own separate lives with their families. You join the index fingers and now open the little fingers. The little fingers will also open. They represent your children, who will also settle down in their own way some day. Lastly, join your little fingers and separate your ring fingers. Can you separate them? NO ! This shows that the ring fingers, representing your partner, do not separate, thereby implying that husband and wife remain together all throughout their lives. Its a bonding for ever.

By: 1000freearticles.com
High living has always been associated with the use of perfumes. In the old days with royalty people espousing the need for fragrances, the bourgeois society soon followed.
Perfumes from natural odorants like sandalwood or musk were preferred. In today’s world due to illegal trafficking and species endangerment, natural odorants are replaced by synthetic aromatics. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Aromas like musk from natural ingredients are extremely complex and have been impossible to imitate through synthetic aromatics like nitro-musks or macrocyclic musks. On the other hand, synthetic aromas like ozone, marine, metallic, etc. have no parallel olfactory relationship in the natural odorants.
So nowadays with modern technology of perfume manufacturing and synthetic aromas, new categories have been created. Categories that can be best described as:
Bright Floral – very popular and meant for almost everyone and all occasions
Woody – it evokes the forest refreshing smell
Green – it has a lighter fragrance and is meant for casual wear
Oceanic – it is very popular among the younger generation
Spicy Fruit – a good choice for tropical weather or during summer
Oriental – (Or Spicy scents) it is meant for special occasions.
The composition of perfumes is very important, because the right combination of scents (as rose, jasmine, cola), modifiers (esters), blenders (linalool, hydroxycitronellol) and fixatives(like resins, wood scents and amber), can provide the unique smell by which brand name perfumes are so famous and desired for. Some famous brand name perfumes are:
Eau de Cologne (1709)
Chanel No. 5 (1921)
Opium YSL (1977)
Azzaro Pour Homme (1978)
Anais Anais (1979)
Poison Christian Dior (1985)
Eternity Calvin Klein (1988)
Envy Gucci (1997)
Nu YSL (2001)
Rose 31 (2006)
Also, preservation of perfumes is of vital significance as it degrades if kept carelessly. Previously all perfumes used to come in open bottles with caps. These bottles kept the fragrance intact for about a year. As it was used, the level of the perfume went down, and it was exposed to oxygen contained in the empty space of the bottle. This eventually changed the perfumes fragrance. Heat, light, oxygen, and extraneous organic materials, further distorted the fragrance. Thus glass bottles, though extremely decorative, allowed light, and contributed to the degradation of the scent.
It is now a well known fact that light-tight aluminum bottles are best for the preservation of perfumes, especially when they are refrigerated at low temperatures from 3 to 7 degree Celsius. The oxygen contained inside the bottle cannot be removed completely but it can be minimized by the use of rollers instead of open bottles. Further minimization of oxygen exposure can be attained by the use of sprays.
Thus almost all modern day perfume come in spray bottles, which isolate the perfume from mixing with outside oxygen, skin, detritus, and dust, thereby promoting the longevity of the olfactory quality of the perfume.

It has rightly been said by fashion gurus that year 2010 is and will continue to be an interesting and exciting year for fashion. With the end of the global financial crisis and recession trend, an upheaval in the fashion world was seen in the beginning of the year and this is continuing. In all the fashion shows that have taken place so far, a new standard of fashion rise up is seen. The latest trends in women fashion 2010 have been inspired by yesteryear’s classic styles with a dash of sex, skin, colors, and embellishments and of course attitude and glamour. Let us  see some of the latest women fashion trends 2010.
2010 Fashion Colors, Prints and Patterns
There is a mix of soft, delicate styles with sporty look in the Spring/Summer 2010. No doubt, you could trace a touch of past fashion but mixed with modern outlook in this season. The popular colors for the year are neutral shades, sober colors and also other colors like the blues, pinks, browns and surprisingly a color like neon green. An important aspect of women fashion trends in 2010 is that heavy patterns and prints, earthly tones teamed up with bold and outrageous designs are in this year.  So there is nothing wrong or embarrassing to experiment with neutral attire, team up with bright colored footwear like pumps and jewelries to bring some color to your look. Or get yourself a gorgeous dress with huge floral or other prints all over, and team it up with patterned hand bags and stockings and hooped jewelry.
Fashion Trends 2010 in Women Fashion Wear
While the last decade saw the fashion circuit being dominated by tight jeans, the women fashion wear trends in 2010 has seen the emergence of loose pants. So go for a baggy jeans and throw on a loose kurti or tunic this year. Wearing sporting attire is also a trend in 2010. So you can see in the fashion stores, designer jogging suits and fashionable sweat pants. These two trends have clearly shown that fashion 2010 is more focused on comfort, rather than looks.
Hot ladies shorts in bright and vibrant colors have made their way in 2010. Colorful chunky jewelry and accessories and big glasses play a major role in adding glamour to your ensemble. Do not wear too short shorts so as to make yourself a fashion disaster. A sultry and sexy high dress is in for those who do not prefer to wear shorts. This particularly looks good on those who have well toned legs and skin.
Full skirts are out in 2010 and this trend has been replaced bandage skirts. In fact, the fashion designers have concluded that the bandage skirt is the “it” piece of fashionable clothing for women for work or a night out. A fitted top gives the perfect slim figure look, accentuating the waistline. Mini skirts in neutral tones are also in this year.
Women fashion trend 2010 has also seen the casual fitted t-shirts paired with denim jeans looking good on women for that cool look. Denim jeans will never be going out of fashion. There is a comeback of torn jeans teamed with white t-shirt.
Business suits in the form of blazers and formal trousers are still in, giving importance to masculine gender dresses. This has now been extended to long length blazers with leggings or shorts, with beads and bangles for that feminine look. The knee length capri, showing off a toned calf, is also seen among the younger lot in 2010. It is decent, cool and still looks hot.
Another fashion trend that is seen in 2010 is to be bold and beautiful with some revealing styles. Long, floor length dresses are gone. In fact women are willing to go sleeveless with strong lines to look sexy just by displaying enough cleavage, and a cut at the waist defining the curves rather than being covered by wearing a long dress.  The revealing fabric is in fashion.
2010 Fashion Footwear & Accessories
Fashion accessories trends in 2010 show the emergence of large accessories. Do not hesitate to wear large sized chains, striking studs, over sized chain bags, shimmering bracelets, big pendants, bold cuffs and rings. Stilettos are out this year. Instead, flat shoes, pumps, tiny heel shoes, and boots with buckles and zippers are in.
Conclusion
Try out styles that look good on you. Fashion trends 2010 have shown a number of options for mixing and matching and coming up with the right style. It is necessary to be fashion conscious but not necessary to stick to them always. If you feel that a certain style is out of fashion, do not worry, fashion trends keep on changing and when an old style is back in fashion, you wear it at the right time. 2010 is a year of taking hold of the importance of being a woman and embracing the womanhood’s essence. It’s well known that breastfeeding is best for the baby. Breast milk is a living fluid made individually for each baby, providing her with the most nutritious and healthy food available. Besides providing a solid base for your baby to grow on, breastfeeding helps mom naturally lose weight. She doesn’t even have to jump on a treadmill. The act of making milk itself burns hundreds of calories a day–even if mom has spent the whole day lounging with baby. Breastfeeding has some weight loss benefits to consider.
Effects
Breastfeeding burns an average of 500 calories a day, with the typical range from 200 to 600 calories burned a day. It’s estimated that the production of 1 oz. of breast milk burns 20 calories.
Studies have shown that breastfeeding mothers lose more weight after pregnancy than bottle-feeding moms–even if the latter group consumes fewer calories. Mothers who breastfeed exclusively have an average decrease in body fat and in hip and lower thigh circumference than bottle feeding moms.
Time Frame
Babies who are exclusively breastfed consume an average of 25 oz. of breast milk a day, meaning that moms burn 500 calories a day. The normal range of breast milk taken in by 1- to 6-month-old babies is 19 to 32 oz. a day. The amount varies after six months, depending on how much solid food the baby eats.
Considerations
Because the nursing mom is burning so many calories a day just through milk production, she needs to follow an optimal diet. Breastfeeding moms should consume from 1,800 to 2,000 or more calories a day, or 300 to 500 more calories per day more than those consumed to maintain pre-pregnancy weight.
In general, moms should eat when they’re hungry, which may feel like all the time. Mothers should not fill up on junk to make up for needed calories–they should eat a balanced diet full of whole grains, fruits and vegetables (preferably organic), protein and healthy fats. Whatever a mother eats passes directly into breast milk and, ultimately, into baby, so avoid additives, contaminants and highly processed foods.
Misconceptions
It’s a misconception that exercising will interfere with the quality or quantity of a mother’s milk supply. Exercising does increase the level of lactic acid in the body, but this hasn’t shown any negative effects on breast milk. Moderate exercise is key to optimal physical fitness and will help a breastfeeding mom lose weight without posing any side effects to the nursing baby.
Warning
Even though moderate exercise is encouraged, don’t overdo it. Breastfeeding mothers can put themselves and their milk supply at risk if they diet or exercise before their baby is 2 months old. This time should be devoted to establishing a healthy milk supply and recovering from birth–not dieting.
A sudden drop in calories can reduce a mother’s milk supply and push her body into starvation mode, which can be damaging to a mom’s health. Breastfeeding moms are discouraged from going on extreme diets–such as the no carb diet, the liquid diet and other fads–and they should not take weight loss medication.
