‘Dhaka Dream’, directed by Prasoon Rahman, was released in six cinema halls nationwide yesterday.
The filming of “Dhaka Dream” started during the recording of the song “Ekdin Amaro Chilo Ghor” In 2016. That was the last song recorded by famous folk singer Bari Siddiqui.
Due to some constraints, the film took five years to complete as well as the pandemic also slowed down the post -production process. The film got approval from the Bangladesh Film Censorship Board in February .
“It was a challenging journey for the whole team,” shares the “Sutopar Thikana” famed filmmaker. “Managing a schedule at one time for all of the artistes was one of the most challenging factors here.”
The film illustrates the story of less fortunate rural people migrating to the capital internally, developed under the banner of Imation creator, which is Proshoon’s fourth directorial project. These people dream of a better future that often falls apart.
“Dhaka Dreams” premiered in the prestigious International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) in Toronto this year.
Eminent actor Fazlur Rehman Babu has played a pivotal role in “Dhaka Dream”. The film also stars Shahadat Hossain, Purnima Brishti, Monira Mithu, Abdullah Rana, Shahriar Ferdous Sazeeb, and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury among others.
Kumar Biswajit composed the song “Chaand Ta Jemon Baanka Re Bondhu”, voiced by famous folk singer Momtaz Begum. Biswajit himself lent his voice in the title track, “Hey Dhaka” composed by popular singer-songwriter and composer Rezaul Karim Leemon.
The director apprises that the crew would go to universities, open screenings and various festivals to screen the film in the future.
