The second franchise of the Deol trio Yamla Pagla Deewana has failed to impress the critics. The comic caper is rather forced
and hence becomes unbearable.
Directed by Sangeeth Sivan, the film that Casts Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Neha Sharma, Kristina
The film, which promised double the fun this time, doesn’t quite achieve that. The possible reasons could be the fading Deol charm and urrgh…lame jokes. Going by the reviews, it seems that even if you’re a fan this would probably be your last watch.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV says: ‘Those that have been through the first round of the Yamla Pagla Deewana shock treatment might be forgiven for thinking that it couldn’t get any worse. Think again. The sequel is double the pain. It scrapes the very bottom of the barrel’.
Chatterjee further cribs saying that the film is much worse than brain-numbing. ‘The screenplay jumbles up a few songs, some action scenes and a string of vapid comic gags and then dumps it all into a messy mix that makes about as much sense as Garam Dharam’s pow-wows with the mute ape’.
It goes without saying that the Deols have a following and it might just work in their favour this time around too but eventually audience will move on to the script which lacks potential.
Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama puts his point, ‘It’s a pleasure to watch the Deols in a frame. Nor can you question their dedication. The trio left an impression in APNE as well as Yamla Pagla Deewana. But Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 doesn’t tap their potential to the fullest’.
