5.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Dhaka

Dhaka and other several sections of the country were jolted this morning by an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The report stated that the earthquake’s epicentre, which was felt at 9:02 a.m., was located at a depth of 10 kilometers within the Bay of Bengal.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Contacted, Kazi Zebunnesa, assistant meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said the earthquake was moderate and the epicentre was 520 kilometres away from Agargaon Seismic Centre in Dhaka.
