Women reaching heights

With the dream to familiarise foreigners with her beloved country’s flag, Wasfia Nazreen, a Bangladeshi female mountaineer, sets off early morning today in her journey to climb the seven highest mountains of the world’s seven continents.
Wasfia will be the first female mountaineer of Bangladesh to climb Europe’s Mount Elbrus, Africa’s Kilimanjaro, South America’s Aconcagua, Antarctica’s Vinson Massif, Nepal’s Mount Sagarmatha, Alaska’s Denali and Oceania’s Puncak Jaya.
Liberation War Museum organised a ceremony at its premises in the city yesterday to hand over a Bangladeshi flag to Wasfia and wish her well for the journey.
Secretary-in-charge of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Tariqul Islam, Ain O Shalish Kendra Executive Director Sultana Kamal and Liberation War Museum Trustee Sara Zaker and campaign manager Shahana Siddique were present.
Wasfia has been trained by renowned mountaineers of the world and already climbed Kala Patthar (5,560m) and Island Peak (6,200m) of Nepal.
Wasfia said, “There are many obstacles that I will have to face to reach the peaks, which is only half the part.
“I may not be able to reach all the peaks. But the physical and mental pressures that I will undergo will remain as my achievements.”
Greeting Wasfia’s parent for allowing her to climb the mountains, Tariqul said the government will provide all kinds of assistance to fulfill her dream.
Sultana Kamal said Wasfia’s attempt will inspire the young generation, especially females, to take on such endeavours and bring fame for the country.To set Wasfia Nazreen off on her journey.the liberation war museum had organized a Flag Off Ceremony at Saturday 2 july 2011.Wasfia Nazreen had left for the first climb at sunday 3 july,2011.

Minghi-Tau Elbrus Eurpoe
Heights : 5642M or 18510 FT

Instead of talking the normal and regular southern route Wasfia will be approaching from the northern route to mount Elbrus. It is more remote, dangerous climb and does not have the tourist infrastructure found on the southern side.
Kilimanjaro, Africa
Heights: 5895 M or 19340 ft
Journey time: September ,2011
Mount Kilimanjaro is not only the tallest Mountain on the African continent. But the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
Aconcagua Mounteen, Africa
Heights: 6959m or 22830 ft
Journey time: December 2011
Aconcagua is the second highest of the 7 summits and the highest mountain outside of the Himalayas.
Vinson Massif, Antarctica
Heights : 4897m or 16067 ft
Journey time: February 2012
Deep within the frozen antractic,vision is only 600 miles from the south pole and was the last of the seven Summits to be discovered and climbed Mt. Vinson.
Everest, Asia
Heights; 8850 m or 29036 ft
Journey time: April or may 2012
Also known as Chomolungma(Tibetan) and sagarmatha (neapl). The highest mountanieen on the planet straddles the border of Tibet and Nepal in the Himalayas and is roof the world. The summit of evetest has recently being confimed by scientists as the worlds 3rd pole.
Denali Mount Mckinley, Northy America
Heights: 6194 m or 20320 ft
Journey time: On average only 45 percent of climbers attempting the mountain successfully reach the summit. In may 2011, Due to bad weather conditions that percentage dropped to only 19 percent.
Puncak Jaya, Oceania
Heights: 4884m ort 146023 ft
Journey time: September or October 2012
Despite having the lowest summit altitude. This is the most technically challenging of the 7 Summits and is the height point. And the highest island peak in the world
