Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to hold an in-person meeting with Shakib Al Hasan within a couple of days to know his next one-year plan before they sew up the central contract of the Tigers for 2022.
BCB’s cricket operations chairman Mohammad Jalal Yunus further informed the reporters on Monday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium press box that they will act accordingly after they are finished with the assignation with the southpaw.
‘We are going to sit with Shakib Al Hasan within the next two days to know his plans for the next one year ahead of the central contract of the national team players for this year.’
The ace all-rounder who was expected to pull him out from the forthcoming two Tests against South Africa starting in the later part of March freshly submitted a letter to the BCB president Nazmul Hasan notifying his unwillingness to play Test cricket for the next six months.
With the conclusion of the central contract of the Tigers soon in mind the BCB is now keen to know his plan in detail if he would be available for all of the Bangladesh’s forthcoming matches.
‘In the meeting we will be aiming to know details from him if he is available for all formats alongside the matches ahead of this year. We will put him in the central contract dully,’ said Jalal.
Earlier in 2021, Nazmul told that the players who belong to the central contract must let the board know prior to their other occupancy when Shakib stepped aside from the Test series with their Sri Lanka counterpart held in April.
That is not the end of Shakib’s negation for playing in the Test format. In 2017, he showed his reluctance to take part in the red-ball cricket against South Africa due to Indian Premier League commitment.
