Mosaddek hits first ton of NCL

Barisal’s Mosaddek Hossain scored the first century of the domestic season as the new-look two-tier National Cricket League first-round got underway at different venues of the country on Friday.
Mosaddek scored 122 runs as Barisal put 302 against Rajshahi before reducing the hosts to 19-2 to make them trail by 283 runs at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium.Among the national players, who are playing for their respective divisions, only Mustafizur Rahman could make a significant contribution for his side as he grabbed 3-24 to help Khulna reduce Dhaka to 174-8 in a rain-hit match at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium
Mahmudul Hasan claimed 5-44 in Borga as champions Rangpur dismissed Dhaka Metropolis for 238 runs before reaching 12-0 at stumps on the opening day.
Rajin Saleh and Rumman Ahmed both scored unbeaten half-centuries as Sylhet made slow progress to reach 240-4 against Chittagong at Fatullah
Barisal v Rajshahi
Mosaddek Hossain faced 119 balls and hit 11 fours along with six sixes to give Barisal some solidity in their innings after they were reduced to 4-139.
Opener Shahriar Nafees provided the early momentum to Barisal, who opted to bat first, making 75 before he was trapped in front by Niahduzzaman.
Mosaddek and Sohag Gazi (52) built on the platform provided by Shahiar to help Barisal past 300-run mark. Left-arm spinner Sanjamul Islam picked up 6-123 for Rajshahi
Off-spinner Sohag later struck early as he bowled Nazmul Hossain before seasoned Farhad Hossain was removed by Touhidul Islam to put Rajshahi in further trouble.
Dhaka v Khulna
Sakib al Hasan failed to leave an impact on the opening day as he picked up only a single wicket from his 16 overs against Dhaka to mark his return to NCL after a gap of three years.
Abdur Razzak (3-60) and Mustafizur, however, made regular breakthroughs taking three wickets apiece before rain halted the day’s proceedings after 62.2 overs of play.
Under-19 batsman Saif Hossain scored highest 68 for Dhaka while Nadif Chowdhury remained unbeaten on 35 runs.
Rangpur v Dhaka Metro
Shamsur Rahman (54) and Marshal Ayub (65) and Elias Sunny (52 not out) each slammed a half-century but Dhaka Metro were still unable to find a significant score as they were dismissed for 238. Metro skipper Mahmudullah could score just 16.
Mahumudul appeared chief destroyer with his five-for before Rangpur reached 12-0 to trail Metro by 226 runs at the end of first day.
Sylhet v Chittagong
Rajin Saleh (72 not out) and Rumman Ahmed (70 not out) put 129 runs for the fifth wicket to help Sylhet reach to a comfortable position on the opening day as they ended 240-4 against Chittagong.
Rajin and Rumman came together after two wickets each from Nabil Samad and Merajul Haque left Sylhet reeling at 4-111.
