A five-day international conference titled ‘Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN53)’ will begin today to share the experience of the representatives from 30 countries working in education and research sectors, according to a press release.
More than 300 representatives of the countries are expected to join the five-day ‘hybrid conference’, in person and 700 virtually, said the release quoting University Grants Commission member Dil Afroza Begum as saying at a press conference held on Saturday at the UGC Auditorium.
BdREN, a project under the UGC, will organise the conference in association with the Bangladesh Open University.
Dil Afroza, also vice-chairperson of Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), said that interested participants would join working groups, committees, plenary sessions, and hold other meetings to review progress, demonstrate advances in technology and applications, and make plans for the future activities in
the sectors during the conference.
The inaugural ceremony of conference is scheduled to be held on March 8 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University and would conclude on March 11.
Education minister Dipu Moni is expected to join the event as the chief guest while deputy minister for education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury as special guest.
Dhaka University vice-chancellor professor Md Akhtaruzzaman is to join the event as guest of honour.
