Actor-director Abul Hayat has cast Bipasha Hayat and Tauquir Ahmed in his teleplay Sonali Danar Chil which is scheduled to be aired on Channel-i during the Eid festival. Bipasha and Tauqir, real-life daughter and son-in-law of Hayat, have performed alongside each other in many teleplays and drama series directed by Abul Hayat since he debuted as a director in 1996 through teleplay Harjit. ‘They performed in more plays directed by me before marriage than after,’ Abul Hayat told New Age. ‘I picked them up for this drama as they fit the character descriptions. We have a professional relationship on the set.’Sonali Danar Chil, also written by Hayat, follows a woman troubled by the apparent contrast between the way she had imagined her husband to be before marriage and the way she discovered him post-marriage.
Hayat said he picked Richi Solaiman and Intekhab Dinar in the lead roles of his another Eid teleplay titled Malinar Ek Ratri, written by Syed Manzoorul Islam and scheduled to be aired on ATN Bangla in the Eid festival.
Earlier, Tauquir and Bipasha performed in Hayat’s teleplays such as Beli, Pratyasha and Ekjan Aparadhini and a number of drama series including Dola and HasulI.
Bipasha said she enjoys working in her father’s plays alongside her real-life husband since both of them take their work professionally. ‘Abul Hayat as a director and Abul Hayat as my father are completely different persons,’ she said.
‘As for Tauquir and I, we understand the difference between our family life and professional life. As a result, we work professionally even when we are aware of our personal bond, which results in even better productions,’ she added.

Veteran actor Abul Hayat takes on a never-seen-before avatar for single-episode television play “Portrait”. Scripted by Urmi Mostafa and directed by Golam Sohrab Dodul, the play casts Abul Hayat as an artist alongside his daughter Bipasha Hayat who will be seen as a corporate employee.The character played Abul Hayat paints all night long which disturbs his neighbour (played by Bipasha Hayat). One day Bipasha comes to him to complain about the disturbance. However on learning that Abul Hayat paints portraits of famous dead men who come to him at night, Bipasha wants to see them.
“Portrait” will go on air on Rtv during Eid.

Popular TV actress Bipasha Hayat’s 10-day solo painting exhibition titled ‘The Journey Within’ will begin today at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts in the city’s Dhanmondi area.Bipasha’s father noted TV actor and director Abul Hayat will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest, while renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi and art critic Dr Syed Manzoorul Islam will be present as special guests on the occasion.
A total of 68 artworks of Bipasha Hayat will put on display in the exhibition.
This was disclosed at a press conference at the Bengal Shilpalaya in the city yesterday where besides Bipasha, noted artist and cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharya, Director of the gallery Subir Chowdhury, Sarwar Jahan Shanto spoke.
Bipasha was born in Dhaka on March 23, 1971. She did her MFA in 1998 from the Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University. She has participated in many group exhibitions including an exhibition celebrating Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary this year.
Bipasha’s career in acting in two films on the Liberation War, ‘Aguner Parashmoni’ and ‘Joyjatra;’ her role in ‘Aguner Parashmoni’ begged her the Best Actress National Award. Other important awards include the Bachshash Puroskar, Onnodin-Impress Telefilm Award, Meril-Prothom Alo Award, UNESCO, Ananya, Bhorer Kagoj and Jai Jai Din awards. Alongside acting, Bipasha has written over 40 screenplays and a book titled ‘Hridoy Rajje.’
The exhibition will end on November 3 and the gallery remains open for all from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

Theatre plays featuring a single actor are fast becoming popular. This upward graph in the popularity chart is making the TV play directors interested in such productions. Veteran actor turned director Abul Hayat is going to make a single episode TV play which is going to feature a single actor in the entire production. The TV play Hat Bariye Dao will feature Bipasha Hayat as the solo cast. The shooting for the play will begin on 2 March; the shooting will take place in Dhaka. The storyline of the play centres on the 1971 Liberation War. It centres on the life of a freedom fighter’s wife. After her husband is detained and killed she is apprehended by the Pakistani Army. Some members of the Pakistani occupational forces torture and rape her. After the war she returns to her home. The story takes a turn when it is discovered that she is pregnant.The story line of the play has been developed by Fazlur Rahman, who has adapted the story from a work of Hariyana Falachi.
Speaking about the upcoming TV play Abul Hayat said, “The main story of this play has been adapted from a work of Hariyana Falachi but it tells the story of 1971”. He also said, “It is quite a challenge to keep the audience focused on a play which features only a single cast. I will try to make the play as interesting as possible”. The TV play will be aired on 26 March on Channel i.
