In an effort to boost export revenues, the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA) is holding a three-day expo from November 24–26.

The expo is scheduled to take place in the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, and organizers anticipate participation from some 200 brands from 15 countries, including the hosts, Bangladesh.

At a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday, BCMEA president Shirajul Islam Mollah announced that the expo would be open daily from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

Over the last decade, he said, the ceramics industry in Bangladesh has grown by almost 200 percent, with investment increasing by around 20 percent.

As a result, there are now more than 70 producers in the domestic ceramics sector, with a total investment of roughly $1.7 billion.

Furthermore, after fulfilling 85% of domestic demand, the country earns over $500 million annually from exporting ceramics to more than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Thailand, and India.

The head of the BCMEA continued by saying that 5 lakh individuals are involved in the sector in some capacity.

Irfan Uddin, the BCMEA’s general secretary, has stated that the demand for Bangladeshi ceramics is on the rise in other countries because to its high quality and stylish designs.

“So, new markets are being created at the same time,” he added.

He went on to say that the local ceramics industry is thriving, and that its potential for expansion in both home and foreign markets suggests it might become one of the country’s most lucrative exports item.

Local Manufacturers and exporters can increase the value of their brands by showcasing their innovative new products at the fair.

Uddin also mentioned that there would be an option to place immediate orders during the event.

Tipu Munshi, Minister of Commerce, will officially open the expo.
