]]>The Department of Civil Engineering of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology inaugurated a SCIP Plastics Project under the Sustainable Capacity Building to Reduce Irreversible Pollution by Plastics research project.
Vice-chancellor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was chief guest at the event held in the seminar room of Civil Engineering Department on Monday, said a press release.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering dean Md Mainul Islam and the scientific expert of SCIP Plastics Project and head of civil engineering department Asiful Haque were special guests.
SCIP Plastics Project scientific expert and civil engineering department professor Sudeep Kumar Pal delivered a welcome speech.
SCIP Plastics Project’s scientific director and civil engineering department professor Farzana Rahman Juthi presided over the event while SCIP Plastics Project research assistant Farzana Khan Dina moderated the programme.
The SCIP Plastics project is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Epic Properties Limited chairman SM Lokman was guest of honour of the programme while Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology dean Mohammad Moshiul Haque and IEB Chittagong Centre former chairman Delwar Majumdar were special guests. The resource person of the seminar was the founder and director of AIMS and professor of CSE of United International University Khondkar A Mamun. The programme was presided over by the head of the department of biomedical engineering Kazi Delwar Hossain and moderated by BME lecturer Fazlur Karim Khondkar.
Rehena Shahid, student of 2019 batch, and Ishrat Jahan, student of 2022 batch, also spoke at the programme.
The chief guest distributed prizes to the winners of the idea competition organised on the occasion of BME Fiesta-2022.
Earlier, the VC inaugurated two laboratories named ‘Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab’ and ‘Bio-Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Lab’ established in Academic-5 of the university.
