CUET inaugurates SCIP Plastics Project

The Department of Civil Engineering of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology inaugurated a SCIP Plastics Project under the Sustainable Capacity Building to Reduce Irreversible Pollution by Plastics research project.

Vice-chancellor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was chief guest at the event held in the seminar room of Civil Engineering Department on Monday, said a press release.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering dean Md Mainul Islam and the scientific expert of SCIP Plastics Project and head of civil engineering department Asiful Haque were special guests.

SCIP Plastics Project scientific expert and civil engineering department professor Sudeep Kumar Pal delivered a welcome speech.

SCIP Plastics Project’s scientific director and civil engineering department professor Farzana Rahman Juthi presided over the event while SCIP Plastics Project research assistant Farzana Khan Dina moderated the programme.

The SCIP Plastics project is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Bangladesh University Grants Commission member Muhammad Alamgir, also SCIP Plastics Project scientific expert of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, SCIP Plastics Project leader and Germany’s Bauhaus

University Weimar professor Eckhard Kraft, KUET SCIP Plastics Project scientific director Md Rafizul Islam, Khulna City Corporation chief planning officer Abir Ul Jabbar and SCIP Plastics Project Coordinator George Biastoch were special guests.

CUET holds BME Fiesta

The BME Fiesta-2022 was held on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology on Sunday.

A joyous procession was brought out on the occasion from in front of the biomedical building led by CUET vice-chancellor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, said a press release.

Later, a seminar on ‘Future of Healthcare Sector and Role of Biomedical Engineers’ was held in the seminar room of the Department of Mechanical Engineering with the VC as chief guest.

Epic Properties Limited chairman SM Lokman was guest of honour of the programme while Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology dean Mohammad Moshiul Haque and IEB Chittagong Centre former chairman Delwar Majumdar were special guests. The resource person of the seminar was the founder and director of AIMS and professor of CSE of United International University Khondkar A Mamun. The programme was presided over by the head of the department of biomedical engineering Kazi Delwar Hossain and moderated by BME lecturer Fazlur Karim Khondkar.

Rehena Shahid, student of 2019 batch, and Ishrat Jahan, student of 2022 batch, also spoke at the programme.

The chief guest distributed prizes to the winners of the idea competition organised on the occasion of BME Fiesta-2022.

Earlier, the VC inaugurated two laboratories named ‘Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab’ and ‘Bio-Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Lab’ established in Academic-5 of the university.

Training workshop held at CUET

A day-long training workshop on ‘helping to create new entrepreneurs’ was organised at Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in Chattogram on Sunday.
CUET vice-chancellor professor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam inaugurated the workshop as chief guest at the conference room of the incubator at 11:00am while Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator director and Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering dean Mohammad Mashiul Haque presided over the event, said a press release.
Economic Research Group representative and North South University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering professor Md Md Rokonuzzaman and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park project director Abul Fatah Md Baligur Rahman spoke at the workshop, among others.
Around 70 representatives of various startup companies of Chattogram city participated at the day-long workshop.

CUET emerges champion in TV debate contest

The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology team has become the champion in the National Television Debate Competition 2022.
The students of undergraduate and postgraduate levels participated in the debate organised by the Chittagong Centre of Bangladesh Television.
In the final round of the competition, held at BTV Chittagong Centre on Monday afternoon, a team from CUET Debating Society defeated the Rajshahi University team and became the champion.
In the winning team, the debaters are Mahejabani Islam, Atkiya Atkia and Humaira Mehjabani Senjuti.
Humaira has been adjudged the best contestant in the competition, said a press release.
CUET vice-chancellor Mohammad Rafqul Alam greeted the team for the success.
CUET Debating Society started its journey in 2003 since the establishment of the university.

CUET holds e-document training

A three-day training workshop on e-document was organised at the initiative of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology with the aim of conducting all the official activities of the university through e-documents.
Moinul Islam, dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, was chief guest at the closing ceremony of the workshop held at the Computer Lab of the CSE Department of the university on Saturday.
Registrar Farooq-uz-Zaman Chowdhury was special guest at the function presided over by Asaduzzaman, director, IQAC.
Welcoming remarks were made by additional director, IQAC, Md Sanaul Rabbi. Munir Ullah, deputy director, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, spoke at the ceremony conducted deputy director (public relations) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman.
Touhidur Rahman, System Analyst, IICT and Sheuli Akhter, administrative officer, general administration section, also spoke on behalf of the participants.
Certificates were distributed among the teachers and officials of different departments and offices of the university participating in the workshop, said a press release.
