Popular television actress Farah Ruma is neck deep in work ahead of Eid. Recently she completed shooting for tele-film “Chandrabindu” alongside Riaz. Directed by Gautam Koiree, the tele-film casts Riaz and Ruma together for the first time. “During the shooting, I never felt I was working with Riaz for the first time. As an actor he is very supportive and talented. Most importantly, ‘Chandrabindu’ has an interesting storyline.”In the tele-film, Farah Ruma will be seen as an apparition who keeps appearing in the imagination of the man she loves.In addition, she has single- episode play “Dhushor Pandulipi” on hand. Casting Farah Ruma and Apurbo in the lead roles, the play will go on the floor soon.
She will be seen as the wife of a landlord in Anjan Aich’s Eid play. “I like my role very much. Moreover, it was a pleasant experience to work alongside Tariq Anam Khan.”
Some of her Eid plays include Chayanika Chowdhury’s “Tomar Prithibi Chhere” and BU Shuvo’s “Daak”.
Aside from acting, Farah Ruma is hosting a programme on Channel i.
Despite being busy on the shooting sets, she has shopping plans all worked out. One lean day at work, she went
shopping and bought gifts for her dear ones.
The actress will spend Eid with her family in Dhaka.

Farah Ruma has been in media for more than a decade. She has demonstrated her brilliance in drama, modelling, cinema, and in hosting TV shows. “Amaro Gaite Ichche Holo”, a music show hosted by her has been aired for about two and half years. The programme is telecast on ntv at 9pm once a week. Ruma has shared her thoughts with The Daily Star regarding the programme and other issues as well.Tell us about the guests on “Amaro Gaite Ichche Holo” .
Farah Ruma: Usually upcoming singers perform in the programme. Young composers and singers, whose first albums have recently been released, and above all artistes who have shown some potential in music are people who get highlighted. Audience and veteran musicians have spoken highly of the compositions of these upcoming musicians.
As an artiste you belong more to the field of drama. So, how does it feel to host such a programme on musicians?
Farah Ruma: Initially it was something new to me. But things do change as time wears on. Now I’m really enjoying it. Overall, I think I’m quite comfortable in my role.
So, are you planning to do it on a regular basis?
Farah Ruma: No. Acting is what I want to focus on. And I want do to that with utmost sincerity. I will never be a host at the cost of my acting career. May be I will host occasionally. However, I am going to anchor a programme on the anniversary of ntv.
Tell us about your new projects.
Farah Ruma: I have worked in a serial named “Omimangshito Golpo” which was directed by Ohiduzzaman Diamond. Besides, I am working on a new serial titled “Maya Nigam” which is directed by Golam Mostofa Shimul. The other one is “Shesh Kotha” directed by Arshad Noor. And apart from this, I have already completed the following projects: Choyonika Chowdhury’s “Ekhono Musholdhare Brishti Jhore,” Shahriar Najim Joy’s “Darkak o Doyeler Golpo,” and Anjan Aich’s three one-hour plays named “Halogen Rohoshyo.”
What about movies?
Farah Ruma: I have just completed the shooting of the movie “Putro Ekhon Poishawala” directed by Nargis Akhter. The movie is going to be released soon.

Magazine Anand Bichitra’s find, the beautiful Farah Ruma is playing her part to the hilt in front of the camera. Her current schedule includes three serials: Kaisar Ahmed’s “Ohonkar”, “Tokhon Hemonto” by Humayun Faridee and “Lorai” by Aruna Biswas. The actress says the audience will definitely enjoy the varied characters she plays in the three serials. In “Ohonkar” being aired on Ekushey Television, she points out, viewers can see her in the role of university student Maria.Farah has also taken on roles in several one -hour-TV plays including’ “Nirbachito Dukkho Koshto” and “Lal Golap Shada Mon” by Chayanika Chowdhury, “Nolok” by Mohammad Noman, “Kemon Aachho Tumi” by Syed Jamim and”’Boishakhi Jhor” by Shahriar Nazim Joy. An upcoming project by director Nurul Alam Atik will feature Ruma in a Rabindranath adaptation.
Farah says her hosting gigs do not interfere with her acting, as hosting programmes do not take up much time. For two years now, Ruma has been hosting ntv’s, “Amaro Gaite Ichchha Holo” a programme featuring upcoming musicians who are not in the limelight. Asked how she enjoys anchoring programmes, Farah smilingly says that this identity is enjoyable and gives her a sense of satisfaction. She has also appeared occasionally as a model and dancer. She danced in a Pahela Baishakh programme recently, on the heels of an appearance as a dancer last Eid. She says dancing has been her longtime passion but her busy acting schedule has kept her away from her from it. That, however, is likely to change, she adds.
Farah embarked on her career with the Afzal Hossain drama “Shaako” which she considers a turning point for her. Other defining works were “Lodiya:, a play on the Santals and the portrayal in Tagore’s “Shuvo Drishti'” the actress adds. Farah’s ambition is to continue with performances that will find a firm place in the hearts of the audience.
The actress has also ventured into the glitzy world of the silver screen as shooting on her debut film ‘Putro Amar Poyshawala’ by Nargis Aktar is on. Farah expects the film to be appreciated by audience and critics alike.
