Magazine Anand Bichitra’s find, the beautiful Farah Ruma is playing her part to the hilt in front of the camera. Her current schedule includes three serials: Kaisar Ahmed’s “Ohonkar”, “Tokhon Hemonto” by Humayun Faridee and “Lorai” by Aruna Biswas. The actress says the audience will definitely enjoy the varied characters she plays in the three serials. In “Ohonkar” being aired on Ekushey Television, she points out, viewers can see her in the role of university student Maria.
Farah has also taken on roles in several one -hour-TV plays including’ “Nirbachito Dukkho Koshto” and “Lal Golap Shada Mon” by Chayanika Chowdhury, “Nolok” by Mohammad Noman, “Kemon Aachho Tumi” by Syed Jamim and”’Boishakhi Jhor” by Shahriar Nazim Joy. An upcoming project by director Nurul Alam Atik will feature Ruma in a Rabindranath adaptation.
Farah says her hosting gigs do not interfere with her acting, as hosting programmes do not take up much time. For two years now, Ruma has been hosting ntv’s, “Amaro Gaite Ichchha Holo” a programme featuring upcoming musicians who are not in the limelight. Asked how she enjoys anchoring programmes, Farah smilingly says that this identity is enjoyable and gives her a sense of satisfaction. She has also appeared occasionally as a model and dancer. She danced in a Pahela Baishakh programme recently, on the heels of an appearance as a dancer last Eid. She says dancing has been her longtime passion but her busy acting schedule has kept her away from her from it. That, however, is likely to change, she adds.
Farah embarked on her career with the Afzal Hossain drama “Shaako” which she considers a turning point for her. Other defining works were “Lodiya:, a play on the Santals and the portrayal in Tagore’s “Shuvo Drishti'” the actress adds. Farah’s ambition is to continue with performances that will find a firm place in the hearts of the audience.
The actress has also ventured into the glitzy world of the silver screen as shooting on her debut film ‘Putro Amar Poyshawala’ by Nargis Aktar is on. Farah expects the film to be appreciated by audience and critics alike.
