Independent University, Bangladesh organised freshers’ orientation on May 21, 2022 for the incoming students enrolled in the Summer 2022 semester, said a press release.
Professor Md Abu Taher, member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest.
Anisul Hoque, prominent writer and associate editor of Prothom Alo, was present as the special guest.
Professor Md Abu Taher said, ‘Today’s world is very competitive and fast changing. Moreover, this is the century of information, knowledge and technology. So, for survival as well as stability, you should be aware of the rapid changes in different sectors. You should update your knowledge and skills through lifelong learning and research and also initiate action plan and strategy at the workplace to face challenges.’
Urging the freshers to not indulge in drugs, Anisul Hoque said, ‘If someone invites you to take drugs, be assured that they are not your friends. Taking drugs is not being modern. Taking drugs is not smart. There is no point in burning your hands to learn what fire does.’
IUB pro-vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, registrar and the deans of five schools also spoke at the programme.
