Tiger Woods will play in his first official PGA Tour event since his horrific 2021 car crash

This Friday Tiger Woods announced he’s ready to take on another golf course during a tournament next week when he takes part of the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.

It will mark his first tournament start since he was reduced to tears as he likely bid farewell to anymore Opens at St. Andrews last July.

‘I’m finally ready to play an ACTUAL PGA Tour event next week,” Woods, now 47, said in a statement confirming his appearance.

Woods actually serves as the tournament host. It has been given elevated status, meaning players will be competing for a $20m purse.

It is the latest comeback in an illustrious career which has seen him win 82 PGA Tour titles, 15 major championships and inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Woods revealed at the end of 2022 that it was the challenging yet “most rewarding” year of his career.

He returned to professional golf at the 86th Masters after crashing his luxury SUV in February 2021.

The news that Woods will be playing at Riviera will be welcome news to golf fans, given that the 87th Masters is only a few months away.

Two-time Asian tour winner Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman missed the cut and was eliminated from the Omega European Masters tournament after the second round in Switzerland on Friday.
Siddik who made a dismal performance on the first round of the tournament on Thursday with five-over par 75 from 18 holes improved his performance on second round. But his performance of even-par 70 from 18 holes was not good enough to ascend him in the top 65 of the leaderboard, the cut point.
On the day, Siddik hit three birdies in the second, 13th and 15th hole but those efforts were nullified by his three bogeys in first, fourth and 10th hole.

Bangladesh’s premier golfer Siddikur Rahman will look to get his European dream in shape when he participates in the Omega European Masters which starts in the Swiss town of Crans Montana today. The 30-year-old golfer, who twice took part in this prestigious event but had the misfortune of missing the cut and withdrawing due to injuries in the last two editions, will tee off at 7:35am local time at the Crans-ur Sierre Golf Club.
Siddikur, who resurrected a flagging season with a third-place finish at the Queen’s Cup in Thailand in June, left the country for Switzerland on the Eid day, the 19th of July. After missing four cuts in five Asian Tour events, Siddikur had returned from Thailand and practiced with his coach for a few days at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka.
The two-time Asian Tour winner will be competing alongside a stellar field which includes defending champion David Lipsky of the United States, Sergio Garcia of Spain, Lee Westwood of England and India’s golfing sensation Anirban Lahiri.
The 2.7 million euro event is the only event hosted in Europe which is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour.

Ace Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman began the Queen’s Cup golf tournament in a resounding fashion as he finished fourth at the end of the first round at
Santiburi Samui Country Club in Thailand on Thursday.
Siddik, who claimed second position in the Queen’s Cup last year, carded five birdies to finish day one on five-under-par 66, just a shot behind joint leaders Daisuke Kataoka of Japan, Jaakko Makitalo of Finland and Malaysia’s Danny Chia.
The 28-year-old golfer did not fall to a single bogey or a double bogey as he fired five birdies in the 2nd, 6th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes to maintain his form after a two-month break from the game.
The $312,000 event which will end on Sunday, saw a host of stars languishing in the lower part of the leaderboard after the end of first day’s play.
India’s Anirban Lahiri was mired in 23rd position while Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand was occupying 33rd position.
Siddik, the only Bangladesh golfer with a win in the Asian Tour event at the Brunei Open three years ago, will be confident about continuing his form and improve on his second-place finish last year, while another Bangladeshi golfer Zamal Hossain Mollah failed to make the cut on the opening day.

Siddikur Rahman continued his indifferent form at the Panasonic India Open in New Delhi as he slid to 14th position in the leaderboard after the end of round three on Thursday.
The Bangladesh golfer began the day from the seventh position and started well as he hit a birdie in the 1st hole but he could only follow it up with another birdie in the 14th hole.Four bogeys in the 2nd, 13th, 15th and 16th holes compounded his misery as he finished the third round with a par score of 72.
Australia’s Wade Ormsby continued his great form to remain in first position of the US$300,000 event. Ormsby shot two-over-par 74 and struck only five bogeys in three days of action so far to move ahead of the rest of the pack.
The third edition of the Panasonic India Open will conclude today with the top three finishers getting a berth in the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open in September.

Bangladesh’s ace golfer Siddikur Rahman made an inconsistent start in the Panasonic Open at the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi as he was jointly sharing the seventh spot with four other golfers after the end of the second round’s play on Friday.
Siddik fired one-under-par 71 in the four-day long US$ 300,000 event, hitting seven birdies on day two but three bogeys ensured he remained afar from Australia’s Wade Ormsby who is at the top of the leaderboard shooting five-under-par 67.
The premier Bangladesh golfer’s position remained the same as defending champion, India’s Digvijay Singh, who also shot one-under-par 71.
Siddik hit seven birdies in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes while he suffered the setback of three bogeys in the 1st, 11th and 12th holes.
The 28-year-old Siddik also suffered the ignominy of a double bogey in the 6th hole which worsened his position and took him further down from the top three, who will get the invitation to play in the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation, in Osaka, Japan in September.
