]]>As the 37-year-old made his way down the tunnel after the Red Devils were defeated by the Toffees on Saturday, Ronaldo appeared to take his frustration out on a young Everton supporter, who was said to be attending his first football game.
The United No. 7 aggressively smacked the 14-year-old boy’s phone out of his clutches and to the floor, leaving bruises on the kid’s hand, with his mother later revealing her son was left traumatised by the incident.
Later that night, Ronaldo took to social media to address the situation and apologize. “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game,” he wrote, extending an invitation to come back and watch another game. “I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
Police are understood to be looking into the matter, while the 20-time English champions decided not to punish the player as they believed his apology put out on social media was satisfactory.
However, Sarah Kelly, the mom of 14-year-old Jake Harding, who has autism, has declined Cristiano Ronaldo’s invitation. Kelly told the Liverpool Echo that Ronaldo “assaulted” her son and bruised his hand. “United have handled it terribly, and it’s just made things even worse, to be honest,” she said.
Kelly also described Cristiano’s apology and invitation as “backhanded,” adding, “The way I see it is, if someone assaulted him in the street and then asked us to go around for dinner, we wouldn’t.”
Kelly added: “We’ve kindly declined the offer to go to United because Jake doesn’t want to go there, and he doesn’t want to see Ronaldo. He’s made that pretty clear,” she said. “They’re not my words; they’re my son’s words. At the end of the day, this is what it’s about. It’s affected him more than it’s affected me, so I have put everything to him to make his own mind up on – he doesn’t want to go to United, he doesn’t want to go to see Ronaldo. All that I’m saying right now is that it’s in the hands of the police.”

Marcus Rashford dismissed talk of a dressing room divide earlier this week and Maguire has denied the latest reports.
“I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another,” Maguire posted on social media ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match at Leeds.
“Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone.”
United’s 2-0 win against Brighton on Tuesday lifted them back into fourth place in the English top-flight. But interim manager Ralf Rangnick faces a tough battle with a number of other sides also in the mix.
While Maguire has been off colour, Ronaldo has also suffered notable dip in form.
The Portuguese star, 37, went six games without a goal before finally getting back on the scoresheet against Brighton.
That victory stopped a dismal run of three successive games in which United had blown a first-half lead. And even though United moved up to fourth, but Rangnick will know their Champions League rivals have games in hand on a side that remain incapable of impressing over 90 minutes.
“It is great always when you have the three points especially after we draw the last few games. We are all very happy,” De Gea said after the Brighton game.
“We should be fighting for more things than the top four, but that is the reality. There are many teams fighting for the same position and with the quality we have we should win a lot of points.”

]]>Ronaldo was thrown right into the starting lineup in a game that had the feel of a major occasion at Old Trafford, where he last appeared in a Manchester United shirt back in May 2009. He didn’t disappoint the sell-out crowd on hand.
With ten points after four games, the Red Devils are first in the table. Ronaldo benefited in his first goal from a mistake by Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who could only parry a shot from Mason Greenwood. The veteran steered the rebound over the line without any problems (45th + 2). After the surprising equalizer by Javier Manquillo (56th), Ronaldo overcame the visiting goalkeeper six minutes later with a shot between the legs. Compatriot Bruno Fernandes (80th) and Jesse Lingard (92nd) were able to increase.
His return was enough to generate a feverish atmosphere among 74,000 in attendance not seen at Old Trafford for many years.

This is just in a matter of hours after the No.7 shirt went on sale and Manchester United have had the biggest day of online sales ever on a single sports merchandise site outside of North America.
Following Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, there was one question mark over the Portuguese’s move; the shirt number the forward would wear at Old Trafford.
Edinson Cavani had occupied the famous no.7 shirt that Ronaldo donned for six years during his first stay at United and it was unclear if the Uruguayan would be willing to give it up or if the Premier League would provide special dispensation for United to switch numbers.
The Premier League, however, granted United’s special request and Ronaldo was granted his wish.
The club has since heavily promoted the no.7 shirt with fans queuing outside Old Trafford to get their hands on a shirt with Ronaldo’s name on the back.

]]>Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are planning to send a team of scouts to follow the 22-year-old attacking midfielder at Dortmund games next season, the Japanese daily Nikkan Sports said.
“His goal of joining a big club may be realised within this year at the earliest,” the daily said.
Kagawa, who scored eight goals in 17 Bundesliga games after moving from J-League side Cerezo Osaka at the start of last season but broke his right foot in January, is keen to play for the English Premier League champions.
“If I get a formal offer, I’ll be strongly interested in listening to what they have to say,” Kagawa was quoted as saying by an associate, according to the Nikkan Sports.
“The Premiership is one of the leagues I want to challenge,” said Kagawa, who once targeted Barcelona as his final destination. “If it is Man U, I’ll be still more eager to go and try how much I can do there.”
Manchester United first showed an interest in Kagawa late last year but backed off after he suffered the injury in Japan’s Asian Cup semi-final win over South Korea in January, the daily said.
The Blue Samurai went on to lift a record fourth continental title in his absence.
At that time, Spanish clubs Villarreal and Atletico Madrid as well as Juventus and Tottenham were also reported to be interested in him.
British radio station talkSport reported that Manchester United had been quoted a price of 20 million pounds (24 million euros) for Kagawa.
After seeing Dortmund lift the Bundesliga shield from the bench, he came back onto the pitch to play the last three minutes of their final league game of the season, a 3-1 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Manchester United scouts watched him at the match, the Nikkan Sports said.
