The Bangladesh team reached Oman today at the early hours of Monday after Cyclone Shaheen bearing down on Oman, had thrown their departure from the Bangladesh into doubt on Sunday night.
The Mahmudullah Riyad-led squad took off from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 1:10am, more than two hours shy of their scheduled flight at 10:45 PM.
While uncertainty remained due to the situation, the Bangladesh players had assembled at the Airport yesterday on due time. Team sources had said the Tigers were on schedule to depart but the cloud of doubt had been apparent since a last minute cancellation of flight was still on the cards yesterday evening.
However, with possibilities being extended that their scheduled flight was set to be cancelled and the cricketers were likely to catch a flight on Monday, BCB CEO confirmed to that the team was to travel on Sunday night. Despite the delay, the Tigers reached Oman this morning and made it to their team hotel at Muscat safely.
Bangladesh will spend a day in room quarantine in Muscat before starting their training on October 5 in Oman, after which the Tigers will travel to Dubai to take part in two official practice games on October 12 and 14 against Sri Lanka and Ireland respectively. Mahmudullah Riyad and his troop will then return to Oman on
October 15 to participate in the qualifier stage and will face Scotland in their first qualifier game on October 17.

Bangladesh’s ICC Twenty20 World Cup bound contingent faced some last minute drama before finally leaving for Oman an hour after the scheduled time on Sunday.
The Bangladesh team players, support staff and a few board officials were scheduled to leave for Muscat at 10:45 pm from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
But at around three hours before the flight, they were informed by the airport authority that the flight has been cancelled due to the calamitous weather caused by the tropical cyclone Shaheen, which made land fall in Oman on Sunday.
However, just minutes after the initial cancellation, the authorities reversed their decision and informed them that flight will in fact take off an hour after the previously slated time.
At the time of writing this report, the flight was scheduled to take off at 11:45 pm, confirmed a source from the airport authority.
The Bangladesh team is supposed to stay in quarantine for 24 hours after landing and will stay in Oman before departing for Abu Dhabi on October 9 to play two warm-up matches.
