The Police Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested an accused in the case of murdering college student Mosarat Jahan Munia at a location in Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
Saifa Rahman Mim, sixth accused in the murder case filed by Mosarat’s sister Nusrat Jahan, was arrested at her Dhanmondi residence in the morning, said PBI additional police superintendent Md Sarwar Jahan.
PBI so far have arrested two accused –Saifa and model Faria Mahabub Piyasha – in the murder case, said the police official. Four more accused in the case are on bail, he added.
The police on April 26, 2021 recovered the body of Mosarat hanging from a ceiling fan in a rented apartment at Gulshan in Dhaka.
Nusrat Jahan was first to file a case against businessman Sayem Sobhan Anvir, whom she accused for provoking to commit suicide, but the police in their report found no link of Sayem to the death, prompting the family to file the second case on September 6, 2021.
Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his son and the group’s managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and six others were made accused in the murder case filed with the court.
The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 judge Mafroza Parveen had earlier asked the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case.
