To emphasise the importance of fully utilising spaces in Dhaka, which is facing a dearth of playgrounds and open spaces, social organisation Bhumijo arranged a children’s fair in the front yard of its public toilet facility at Raowa Club in the capital’s Mohakhali on Thursday.
The children’s fair, titled “Golpo Gane, Rong Tulite Amader Desh Amar Shohor”, had various arrangements like arts and crafts activities and storytelling. There was also an exhibition of children’s paintings as well, says a press release.
Following Bangabandhu’s dream for children-friendly development and to celebrate National Children’s Day, Bhumijo, working to ensure hygienic public sanitation for all, organised the fair, said its chief executive officer Farhana Rashid Tonu, who inaugurated the event.
At the event, renowned writer Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal said the fair was beyond expectation.
“I am truly amazed to see the modern toilet facilities. I wish this initiative will spread in different cities and all over the country,” he said while giving a speech as chief guest.
