Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have been named the most bankable stars of Bollywood by ETC Bollywood Business Awards.Kareena Kapoor, who featured in “Bodyguard” and “RA.One” in 2011 opposite Salman and Shah Rukh, has been adjudged the most bankable actress.
“Receiving an award wherein you are being adjudged considering the economic quotient as a cornerstone for mapping the success gives you a sense of pride. I’ve always maintained that commercial success is as important as the critical success of a movie,” Kareena said in a press statement.
Salman’s “Bodyguard”, the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film by the same name, was assessed as the top grosser of the year 2011. The film’s director Siddique walked away with the most bankable director’s title.
Shah Rukh’s big-budget “RA.One” was recognised as the best marketed film of 2011 and also bagged an award under the highest single day collection of revenue category.
“ ‘RA.One’, Bollywood’s most expensive movie, was my dream project. It feels great that my long-cherished dream has been applauded and acknowledged,” said Shah Rukh.
“Allah has been very kind to me and helped me to entertain my audiences and it is quite literally my audiences’ love that has fetched me these awards. Inshallah, I’ll continue to entertain my audiences and make it to this award in years to come,” he added.
Other films like “Pyaar Ka Panchnaama”, “The Dirty Picture”, “Don 2: The King Is Back” and “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” bagged awards for being the most successful small budget Film.

With less than a month to go for the release of actor Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, not only Salman, but everyone in the family too is equally involved in the movie.The actor was shooting for the promotional activities of his film right from early Sunday afternoon at Mehboob studio in Bandra and the only time he came out for his mini-breaks, he got busy discussing the marketing of his film alongwith director and bro-in-law Atul Agnihotri and sis Alvira.
Ocassionally he would dig into the home-sent food that his sis bought to the sets, but it would be a quick bite before he returned back inside the studio.
A source informs, “Bhai is too busy these days. He doesn’t even get time to say Salaam to his parents at home!” The star, who’s just completed his film with Kareena is expected to begin work on Ek Tha Tiger with Katrina soon.

So it’s no shock when Salman gave Kat the best birthday present she could ask for – a new movie with them in the lead role. The next film they are acting in is Kabir Khan’s, ‘Ek Tha Raaja’, but Salman feels they should act in a film produced by his banner too.
If sources are to be whispered, Salman was in a very good mood on her birthday since he got to spend some time with Katrina. He told, he wanted to make a movie with her soon and he would start work on it sometime next year. Even though the script is not ready as yet, he is sure that he wants his team to work on a project involving Katrina and him.
When asked what her perfect gift would be, Katrina quickly answered that she wished she finds love this year, get good movie offers and largely she wishes for Mumbai to be free of attacks.

Bollywood star Salman Khan, also known as the Hindi film industry’s enfant terrible, says he wants to help workers in filmdom by sharing his income and also work for the underprivileged in society.“Right now, I want to give a percentage of my earnings from the film that I will start to workers of the film industry, ” Salman told, adding the amount is not fixed yet. “It can be half of the remuneration; it can be one percent.”
“Even if everyone gives half a percent (of their remuneration), it will be huge money.
“The government takes 30 percent from (the industry) plus the entertainment tax. Where does it (money) go, I don’t know. I know that the money, whatever small percentage we give, should go to the workers in the film industry, ” said the actor who gave two back-to-back hits with “Wanted” and “Dabangg”.
The 45-year-old actor says he will first strategise his initiative and then take action.
“I have to sit with all the heads of the (film workers’) associations and find out where the maximum amount of money is required. And the money would go there, ” said Salman whose “Ready” will hit the screens June 3.
Directed by Anees Bazmee, “Ready” is a remake of a Telugu comedy of the same name and also stars Asin Thottumkal who teamed up with him in “London Dreams”.
The actor’s life has been dotted with legal troubles and other unpleasant incidents – if he was involved in a hit-and-run case and blackbuck killing, he has also been known for picking up fights with fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan and allegedly hitting his girlfriends.
But it seems now Salman has left them behind and set his sights on noble causes. In fact, he says he will mix work with social work by utilising some time and money for underprivileged people while promoting a film.
“I haven’t started publicising the film (‘Ready’) as yet. The way I will promote it is being finalised. Now the new funda has come up that you need 15 days to promote a film. Whenever these 15 days come, I will make sure there are 15 to 20 places where I can go and help those people under Being Human and come back, ” said Salman referring to his NGO Being Human.
“When I go to these places, I would see who needs money and help. This money will not go to the administration. It will go directly to those kids who need it. Two or three operations will happen every day. When you go out for something like this, let’s not waste time by just smiling. That’s the biggest fraudulent act one can ever do, ” he said.
The actor has planned to reserve a sum of the promotional budget to accomplish his charity work and hopes other actors will catch on.
“You are going to special children, underprivileged children, cancer patients and giving just a smile. What after that? I hope people, after me, catch up to this one thing and hope there is a competition on how much charity they do while going for the promotion of their film. Instead of spending the money on promos, PRs and all that stuff, let the money go into the country, ” said Salman.

And we hear that Katrina is even in talks to star in another movie from the YRF banner, this time with Shah Rukh Khan.It’s obvious that Kat is still in Salman’s good books, not only did he get dancing with her in Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’ but she even came over to his house to celebrate his birthday in December last year.
But will this friendship continue if Katrina works with Shah Rukh, still clearly a Sallu enemy? Or will Kat smooth things over so all will be well? SRK and Katrina have never worked together, and, who knows, their jodi might be just the kind of first-time pairing that leads to a blockbuster. Watch this space for updates

Actor Salman Khan has asked the maker of ‘Kick’ to mellow down the love making scene for the Hindi version of the movie.The movie is a remake of a Telugu film ‘Kick’, which even has featured the South stars Ravi Teja and Ileeana D’Cruz in a passionate lovemaking scene. Nonetheless, Salman has normally shied away from onscreen intimacy and with Sonakshi it is altogether a different level of reluctance.
She is 22-year junior to him and he even treats her like a child, so he has asked the producer Sajid Nadiadwala to tone down the love making scene in way that he does not have to touch Sonakshi.
For the same, he has asked Sajid to rope in the Rajat Arora, who wrote romantic scene between Kangna Ranaut and Ajay Devgn in the movie ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’.
Salman was very impressed by Arora’s work and now he wants him to write understated romantic moments between him and Sonakshi for ‘Kick’.

Bollywood’s “Dabangg” actor Salman Khan will be seen doing a daredevil stunt in PepsiCo’s new Mountain Dew ad – he jumps from 10,000 feet in a “wingsuit” from which a parachute springs open.“Everyone is afraid of something or the other at some point of his or her life. But if you try to run away from fear, you’d be tired and eventually fear will win. So the best way to overcome fear is to face it, run through it because ‘Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai’,” Salman said in a statement.
Salman was initially not so sure about the stunt but he eventually did it. Wingsuit flying is a new sport of flying through the air in a special jumpsuit and pulling the parachute’s ripcord as one apporaches the ground.
He is said to be the first celebrity brand ambassador roped in by Mountain Dew.
Alpana Titus, category marketing director (flavoured carbonated drinks), PepsiCo India Beverages, says the new campaign is quite big in terms of quality and budget.
“Salman has jumped from a mountain which was 10,000 feet high. He did have jitters initially but was confident it would work out well and he would be able to overcome his fears in turn,” she said.
When asked why Salman was chosen out of all the known faces, Titus said: “Salman was our first choice because he embodies our (Mountain Dew’s) tagline ‘Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai’ accurately and he also has a nationwide fan following. People in not only the metros but also the remote areas follow him.”
The 45-second TV commercial will air from Friday and a 60-second commercial will be shown in theatres.

Salman Khan will be seen in the distinctive Thai rickshaws performing action scenes for upcoming film, ReadySalman Khan recently shot some high-voltage action sequences while driving a tuk-tuk in the narrow streets of Pattaya, Thailand last week.
Perhaps inspired by Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan’s fast-paced ad in the ubiquitous Thai rickshaw, Khan suggested to the director Anees Bazmee that they shoot some action scenes in one, as it hasn’t been done in a Hindi film as yet.
Spiralling costs
Subsequently, an action scene was written and shot, showing two tuk-tuks blowing up and the actor jumping into another one and driving off. Says an insider, “Since no owner wanted to have his vehicle blown up, producer Bhushan Kumar had to buy three at a cost of approximately R 2 lakh each, for the shoot. Salman drove the tuk-tuk expertly, although it was his first time doing so.”
Understandably, Bhushan and co-producer Rajat Rawail want only the best for this R 57 crore extravaganza. No expenses are being spared. After Wanted and Dabangg, Khan’s fans want to see him in bigger and better action scenes and the producers aim to deliver.
That said, this is T-Series’ most expensive film to date. The shoot in Bangkok and Pataya itself is costing Bhushan over R 11 crore at a cost of R 25 lakh per day. Special Thai action fighters have been hired to shoot the action scenes in the tuk-tuks in Bangkok and in the entire film.”
Bhushan admits, “It was bhai’s (Salman) idea to shoot in a tuk tuk. Unlike the two and three-wheeler vehicles in India, the tuk tuks are very fast and powerful. Their drivers too are experts and can ride them as two- wheelers also.
Bhai wanted to shoot an action sequence nobody has done before. People have shot romantic songs or scenes perhaps, but such a high-voltage action sequence will be seen for the first time in ready. People will enjoy this unique Thai action.”
About a tuk-tuk
Similar to a taxi in utility is Thailand’s ubiquitous tuk-tuk. So named because of the sound of their engine, these are motorised rickshaws and are popular amongst tourists for their novelty value. They are occasionally faster than taxis in heavy traffic as weaving in and out is easier, but generally are about the same or slower.
As tuk-tuks are open-ended, they expose passengers to the high pollution levels in the middle of Bangkok’s roads and offer almost no protection in case of an accident. There is theoretically a ban on new tuk-tuks as they are so noisy and polluting, but it doesn’t really seem to be enforced at present.
