Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka will hold ‘Bangladeshi Traditional Fair’ to celebrate the Bangla New Year 1420.
The three-day fair, which will begin on April 13, will display
Bangladeshi handicrafts, clothes, souvenirs and snacks.
The hotel’s most popular restaurant Café Bazar will offer an array of traditional Baishakhi mouth-watering dishes at the Bengali Food Festival taking place side-by-side during those three days.
There will be ‘Hilsha Bhaja’ and ‘Shutki’ along with assorted bhorta and chutney while the Salad Bar will offer assorted Bengali cold cut, mixed vegetable sticks, cucumber and yoghurt salad, tomato and spring onion salad, eggplant salad, mixed Bengali salad, spicy pumpkin salad, aloo bhorta, begun bhorta, , pudina chutney, tomato chutney and pickles.
Soup corner will present several assorted soups. The special desserts will feature different types of assorted fresh fruit platter, pithas, shemai, firni, rashmalai, sweet yoghurt and gur paesh.
A group of young artistes will also perform during the programmes, said a press release.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) yesterday gave 32 awards to banks, insurance companies, non-government organisations and public sector entities for publishing transparent reports and maintaining good corporate governance.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the 12th ICAB National Awards for Best Presented Annual Reports 2011 among the winners at a ceremony at Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
Among the private banks, Prime Bank Ltd won the first prize, while Eastern Bank and Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd emerged as the second and third winners.
Prime Finance & In-vestment Ltd topped the non-banks. IDLC Finance became second and LankaBangla Finance the third.
Reliance Insurance and Green Delta Insurance came first and second in the insurance category.
Among the manu-facturing entities, GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh was awarded the top prize, while RAK Ceramics Bangladesh and Singer Bangladesh came out second and third.
In the communication and information technology sector, Grameenphone won the top award.
Sajida Foundation grabbed the top position in the NGO category, while BRAC secured the second position and Uddipan the third.
State-run Rupali Bank won the top award among the public sector banks, while Dhaka Electric Supply Company (Desco) was the winner in the services sector.
The Saarc anniversary award for corporate governance went to Islami Bank Bangladesh, Prime Finance & Investment Ltd and IDLC Finance.
The finance minister said the area of accounting and reporting is important as it is involved with money.
He urged the accountants to focus on constant improvement on reporting as it will ensure investor confidence and perk up the overall financial regulation.
Commerce Minister GM Quader said these awards will help ensure greater transparency and better disclosure in line with globally accepted best practices and sound corporate governance principles.
Md Syful Islam, president of the ICAB, and Abbas Uddin Khan, chairman of the Review Committee for Published Accounts & Reports of the ICAB, also spoke.

Prime Bank has bagged the top award given by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for publishing reports and accounts.
This is the seventh time in a row that the bank has won this award.
ICAB hands out awards to honour banks, insurance houses, nongovernmental organisations and public sector entities every year.
Commerce Minister Faruk Khan distributed the awards — 11th ICAB National Awards for Best Published Accounts and Reports 2010 — among the winners at a ceremony in Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
In the banking sector subject to prudential supervision category, Prime Bank grabbed the top prize eight times in total since inception of the award in 2001.
Bank Asia emerged second, while Islami Bank Bangladesh and Brac Bank jointly took the third position.
Eastern Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, Dhaka Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Premier Bank, Southeast Bank, Jamuna Bank, Arab Bangladesh Bank and Mercantile Bank won certificates of merit in the category.
IDLC Finance topped the non-banks category. Prime Finance and Investment came in second and LankaBangla Finance third.
Union Capital, International Leasing and Financial Services, Bangladesh Finance and Investment Company and FAS Finance and Investment won certificates of merit.
Reliance Insurance and Green Delta Insurance came first and second in the insurance category under the non-banking sector.
Under the manufacturing entities category, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) came in first, while Summit Power and GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh bagged the second and third prizes.
ACI, Singer Bangladesh and Berger Paints (BD) were awarded certificates of merit.
Grameenphone, the country’s top mobile phone operator, won the top award in the communications and IT category.
Sajida Foundation was the leading nongovernmental organisation. BRAC came second while BURO Bangladesh and Ghashful jointly took third place. Uddipan was awarded a certificate of merit.
State-run Agrani Bank was the leader in the public sector entities for the second time in a row. Rupali Bank came in second and Investment Corporation of Bangladesh third.
Speaking as chief guest, the commerce minister said the area of accounting and reporting is important, as they brighten the corporate image of the country.
“We have to establish best practices to take the country forward,” said Khan.
Professor M Khairul Hossain, chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission, said the award would motivate others to maintain transparency in reports and financial statements.
ICAB President Parveen Mahmud and Anwaruddin Chowdhury, chairman of the review committee for published accounts and reports of ICAB, also spoke.
