\nPresence of hundreds of booklovers at the fair made the publishers and sellers happy as they were satisfied with the sales on the day when 152 new\u00a0titles hit the fair with poetry dominating the list.
\nThe new arrivals included 17 collections of stories, 25 novels, 12 collections of essays, 35 collections of poems, 11 collections of rhymes and six children\u2019s books.
\nSales persons at almost all the stalls were found busy selling and displaying books since the morning.
\nA group of Dhaka University students was found carrying four packets of books.
\n\u2018We have come early in the morning to avoid the rush and spent sometime on the fair ground after buying books,\u2019 said Shamima, one from the group.
\nThe fair venue turned into a human sea after the evening. Most of the popular publishing houses were full with buyers as many popular publishing houses witnessed long lines in front of their stalls.
\nSamay Prakashan released a book of stories titled \u2018Jodi Jante\u2019 by Imdadul Haq Milon. A good number of visitors gathered in front of the store to buy the book.
\nMany stalls outside the Bangla Academy premises continued to flout fair rules by selling books published by others and books published abroad.
\nA seminar was held on \u2018the role of language movement to establish Bangali Nationality and Bangladesh\u2019.
\nSanat Kumar Saha presented the keynote paper which was discussed by Rangalal Sen, Selina Hossain and MM Akash.
\nThe programme was presided by Anisuzzaman. A play titled \u2018Bidya Sagar\u2019, directed by Mamunur Rashid, was staged after the discussion.
\nMeanwhile, 20 participants took part in the final singing competition in the morning.<\/p>\n
