\nAlamgir has worked with ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’ during the Liberation War. Post-independence he emerged as a popular gano sangeet singer. Some of his famed songs are\u00a0“O Sokhina”, “Shantahar”, “Nelson Mandela”, “Naam Tar Chhilo John Henry” and “Banglar Comrade Bondhu”. Alamgir founded Wrishiz Shilpi Goshthi in 1976.
\nThe artiste turned 60 yesterday.
