Leading mobile telephone operator Robi is set to make a significant mark in the country’s telecommunication sector. Robi has undertaken amassive plan aimed at improving its services to the customers.
\nThe company will invest Tk. 48 crore (USD 70 million) in network modernization and expansion which will improve its customer’s experience when making calls and using wireless\u00a0internet facility.
\nIn this regard, A.K.M. Morshed,\u00a0 Robi chief technical officer said, “we feel proud to undertake the country’s first ever massive network modernization program to the benefit of our customers.
\nIt will greatly enhance the quality of our service”.
\nThe programme is being done in partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks, which is well known for having a strong mix of technology and delivery experience.
\nIt will focus on implementing energy efficient equipment and reduce the use of air conditioners at all levels of the network, particularly in the radio base station area.
\nThe radio base stations take up more than 70 per cent of the network’s total energy consumption.\u00a0
\nMentioning about improvement in energy consumption Managing Director and CEO of Robi, Michael Kuehner said “With the new, energy efficient equipment we can save 30per cent of power consumption in our operation.
\nThis will have a significant positive impact on the country’s Eco balance”, says a press release.
\nRobi currently has 10.35 million subscribers and holds a revenue market share of 19.8 per cent.
\nIts geographical network coverage is 80 per cent while population coverage is 86 per cent.<\/p>\n
