\nKhalid Mahmood Mithu informed the film has already won three awards in the 11th Dhaka International Film Festival and Nandan International Film Festival after its release on the occasion of\u00a0Independence Day, March 26 in 2010.\u2019
\nHowever, Khalid Mahmood Mithu could not receive the award in person as he was quite busy during the Okanagan film festival held in Canada from July 18-July 25. Canadian-American filmmaker Vick Sharine received the award on behalf of him.
\nTo mark his achievement, Eastern Bank arranged a grand reception for Khalid Mahmood Mithu at Bashundhara City\u2019s Star Cineplex. A special show of the film was also held at the event attended by its casts and crews.
\n\u2018Gahine Shabdo\u2019 addresses the mistreatment of the freedom fighters. The story follows a freedom fighter named Nura (played by Masum Aziz). Reduced to begging, Nura now lives in a slum in the outskirt of the city. However, he manages to send his only daughter Swapna (Kusum Sikdar) to university. Swapna shares an emotional relationship with a boy (Emon) who belongs to upper class society.
