The footballer revealed that he had become a father for the first time last July. Earlier this month, a tabloid claimed that the child’s mother wanted to return her alleged £10 million payoff in order to get to know her son.

However, The Sun reports that Katia Aveiro has insisted that stories about the woman’s identity are not correct, in a new interview with a Portuguese magazine.

“There is no woman calling him,” she said. “There is no mother, no telephone calls, nothing. His mother died. The baby doesn’t have a mother.”

The 33-year-old continued: “The boy is ours. I’m not going to say how he arrived with us, but I guarantee he’s my brother’s son, my nephew, from our blood. His mother is my mother, who is the person who is with him 24 hours a day.”

Aveiro added: “He’s the most important thing in my brother’s life.”
