When Tamim Iqbal is on song, the Bangladeshi fans hardly have any chance to be disappointed. Expectations run very high whenever the Chittagong lad gets going but the irony is that despite his master blaster reputation Tamim has never scored a century in his own ground.
\nBefore the beginning of his practice session on Thursday evening, Tamim was queried about\u00a0this very fact and said, \u201cI want to score my first century at Chittagong in the World Cup.\u201d
\nHe also went on to say that he would start the tournament with the goal of finishing it as the top scorer.
\n\u201cI will try to be a highest scorer in every match in the upcoming World Cup,\u201d he said.
\nWhen asked about team performances he said, \u201cIt is our first practice. All of us are enjoying the sessions and the environment is also good.\u201d
\nTamim also felt that the tune-up would help him discover his best form for the World Cup.
\n\u201cNow I am mentally relaxed and am practicing batting for a long time in the nets. You will have good or bad days but we are all prepared to give our best. If we all do well, the team will gain from the tournament,\u201d he replied.
\nAnother pillar of the Bangladesh batting line up, Junaed Siddique also concurred with Tamim’s views and added that he was prepared to bat at any position to aid the team.
\n\u201cAs Bangladesh will play the first match of the World Cup with India so we are trying to develop our performance. I hope we will bring better result for the country. Last one year I am playing in number three and feeling comfortable in this position. I think those who are openers can suit themselves in any position.\u201d
\nJunaed added that they were working hard to follow the direction of the coach and trying to bat long hours in the net.
\n\u201cIf our practice session ends well, it will influence our result in the final game,\u201d he said adding that the boys have played many matches in the Premier League and most were in good touch.
\n\u201cNow we have got a chance to play two warm-ups matches. I hope the matches will help our players\u201d, Junaed added.<\/p>\n
