Seasoned film and TV actor Amol Bose died on Monday morning at the age of 78 in Dhaka’s Apollo Hospital following a severe heart attack at his residence.
\nHe is survived by his widow, a daughter, grand children and many fans. His cremation will be held on Thursday after arrival of his daughter in Dhaka from Kolkata, according to family source. Till then his body will kept at the mortuary of Apollo Hospital.
\nBorn in 1943 at Boalmari, Fairdpur, Amol Kumar Bose began acting while just a school student. Initially, he used to perform in jatra and he continued acting in jatra even after becoming popular as film and TV actor.
\nBose came to Dhaka in 1963. He was then working for EPIDC, now known as BJMC. Once in Dhaka, he emerged as a theatre director and performer. His direction of Nurul Momen’s play Alo Chhaya became very popular. Amol Bose continued theatre performances and direction for several years with different theatre troupes.
\nSimultaneously he started acting in cinema and TV. Raja Sanyasi, released in 1966, was the first movie he acted in. In his prolific acting career in the movie industry, Amol Bose acted in over 400 movies and grabbed the national award for a minor role in the movie Ajker Protibad.
\nAbichar, Hothat Brishti, Ami Sei Meye, Tomakey Chai, Mon Maney Na and others are few movies in which Amol Bose gave brilliant performances in diverse characters. He directed a movie titled Keno Emon Hoy.
\nAmol Bose was also equally popular to the small screen viewers. His distinctive acting as Mahishashur in the Durga Puja special TV plays has been etched into the memory of the viewers. His parody, Nana-Nati, in the TV show Ityadi, was also very popular show.
\nMovie industry mourns the death of the prolific actor. Seasoned film actress Shabnom said, \u2018I played the lead role in the movie Raja Sanyasi, directed by Khan Ataur Rahman, through which Bose emerged as a film actor. We also performed together in another movie Joar Bhata. He was a noble soul and very entertaining.\u2019
\nRenowned director Chashi Nazrul Islam said, \u2018He got the National Award for acting in a minor role in my movie Ajker Protibad. Undoubtedly he was a brilliant actor and was equally powerful in different mediums including TV, theatre and jatra.\u2019
\nRecalling his memory, king of heroes Razzaq said, \u2018We were very good friends, though he was older than me. I had plans to cast him in TV plays I\u2019m directing these days. But, the plan will never be executed at the death of the seasoned actor.\u2019
\nBeauty queen Babita, who performed in the sole movie directed by Amol Bose, said, \u2018I still remember those days while he was shooting the movie. I knew him as a very good actor and human being. Then I discovered that he was also a good director.\u2019<\/p>\n
