The 28th Runner Group Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship 2013 got underway at the Kurmitola Golf Club on Tuesday.\u00a0The national amateur teams from the Afghanistan, India, Iran, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan will participate along with hosts Bangladesh in the five-day long international tournament.
\nApart from the national side, a host of local and overseas golfers will take part as private entrants in the competition.
\nThe chief of naval staff, M Farid Habib, inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. Bangladesh Golf Federation president Brigadier Gen GM Kamrul Islam, vice-president of the 28th BSGC organising committee and tournament director, Brigadier Gen Selim Akhtar (retd), vice-president of the Runner Group Brigadier general Safiquzzman (retd) and the joint secretary of the Bangladesh Golf Federation were present among others on the occasion.
\nThe closing ceremony of the event will take place on February 9 at the \u2018Golf Garden\u2019 of the Army Golf Club and the civil aviation and tourism minister, Faruque Khan, will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
