Biman Bangladesh Airlines re-launched its regular fleets to Dhaka-Delhi-Dhaka route on Saturday.
\nBiman\u2019s BG-097 took off at 12:45 local time thus fulfilling the carrier\u2019s earlier commitment for resuming the operations within the shortest possible time, Biman said in a news release.
\nA good number of Biman officials were present to give reception to the passengers of the inaugural flight, it said.
\nThe designated flight BG-097 will depart Dhaka on every Tuesday and Saturday at 12:45 and on the same days, another designated flight BG-098 will depart Delhi at 14:45, both local times, said Biman GM Mosharraf Hossain while talking to New Age.
\nNow with the inclusion of Delhi to Biman\u2019s key-cities network, the number of Biman\u2019s international destination increases to 18.
\nThe airlines and its hundreds of thousands of discerning passengers on the sector have been looking forward to the moment since the new CEO\u2019s announcement of it, only a couple of weeks ago, the Biman release said.
\nBiman said that starting from 1992; Delhi had been in Biman\u2019s network until September 2012 when the airline had to suspend its flights to Delhi in the wake of an acute shortage of aircraft.
\nThe airline would resume flights to Hong Kong on May 13, another destination that was also closed in September 2012 for the same reason.
\nWith the restart of Saturday\u2019s operation, hundreds of thousands of passengers from both ends will be benefited by availing Biman\u2019s flights twice a week to and from Delhi. The passengers travel by the route mainly for business and medical reasons.
\nIt is hoped that the route would help increase Biman\u2019s revenue substantially too, the release said.<\/p>\n
