Three cases were filed on Sunday with a Dhaka court by a victim\u2019s widow over the tragic incident of the building collapse in Savar indicting three persons including Sohel Rana the owner of the building Rana Plaza and two others. Sheuli Akhter widow of New Wave Styles garment factory worker Jahangir Alam who was killed in the building collapse filed the cases with the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
\nSenior Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh recorded the statement of the complainant and took cognizance of the charges.
\nThe two other accused are Bazlus Samad Adnan, owner of New Wave Style which was housed in the collapsed building, and the chief engineer of Savar municipality. The three accused are now in jail in other cases filed by Savar Police.
\nThe cases were filed against them under the section 302, 34 and 506 of the Penal Code seeking capital punishment of the accused.
\nAccording to the statement of the cases, Sheuli alleged that Sohel Rana and owner of the garment factory forced the readymade garment workers, including her husband to enter the factories housed in the ill-constructed building in order to carry out their duties despite their refusal to work as cracks were found earlier at the building.
\nAnwarul Kabir, APP of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, said that among the three cases, one was filed on charge of attempt to murder and two others were filed under building construction law.
\nThe body of Jahangir Alam was recovered on April 24, the day when the nine-storey building Rana Plaza collapsed in Savar on April 24 that left over 600 dead and more than 2500 injured.
\nWith this latest case, a total of five cases have been filed against Rana in connection with the collapse. Of the cases, two cases were filed with Savar Model Police Station and three others under the labour act.<\/p>\n
