\nAnwar Hossain A lifetime of brilliant films<\/strong>
\n<\/a>Veteran actor Anwar Hossain has played a myriad of character in his illustrious career, be it of a nawab, hero, rebellious youth, father and whatnot. But it was the title role in \u201cNawab Sirajuddula\u201d \u2014 directed by the noted actor, director, Khan Ataur Rahman aka Khan Ata \u2014 he obtained the audience\u2019s heart and accessibility to all. After the release of the film in 1967, people started calling him Nawab. The talented actor was born on December 6, 1931 in Jamalpur, as the third child of Nazir Hossain and Shadiya Khatun. His first footing on acting was in school life. After school life, he came to Mymensingh town to get admission at college, at a time when the town was known for its vibrant cultural atmosphere. In his college life, Anwar Hossain participated in a number of theatre productions staged in Mymensingh. With help from reputed dramatist Ashkar Ibne Shaik, Anwar Hossain played a lead role in a drama named \u201cPadkkhep\u201d that helped him find his place in the spectator\u2019s mind in Mymensingh.
\nBut Anwar Hossain chose to chase bigger dreams, and came to Dhaka to embark on a journey in cinema, just as the first feature film \u201cMukh O Mukhosh\u201d was released in our country.
\nIn 1961, he played a role of a villain in \u201cTomar Amar\u201d, a film on the labour demonstration directed by late director Mohiuddin and written by Syed Shamsul Haque.
\nAfter that, directors and producers began to select him due to his powerful acting, and he spent busy time on the silver screen, namely \u201cShurjoshnan\u201d, \u201cKhacher Dewal\u201d, \u201cDui Diganta\u201d, \u201cRaja Elo Shoharey\u201d, \u201cGodhulir Prem\u201d and so on.
\nBeside Bangla, Anwar Hossain also acted in Urdu films. His most noticeable works on Urdu films are \u201cNachghor\u201d, \u201cBahana\u201d and \u201cUjala\u201d, and prospered there too.
\nThe year 1965 was the most memorable in his career, as his film \u201cRupban\u201d was released. \u201cRupban\u201d introduced him in a new avatar before the spectator, and it was \u201cRupban\u201d that redefined his popularity.
\nIn 1967, the evergreen film \u201cNawab Sirajuddula\u201d was released that made him the talk of the town. After that, he acted in \u201cEtotuku Asha\u201d directed by Narayan Ghosh Mita. Almost simultaneously, he worked in \u201cShat Bhai Chompa\u201d directed by Khan Ata. Some of his other remarkable pre-independence works include \u201cNeel Akash-er Niche\u201d, \u201cKa-Kha-Ga-Gha-Uma\u201d, \u201cGhurnijhor\u201d and \u201cSharlipi\u201d etc.
\nAnwar Hossain also played the lead character in the famous film \u201cJibon Theke Neya\u201d directed by the great Zahir Raihan. In it, Anwar Hossain superbly portrayed the character of a political leader.
\nIn post-liberation Bangladesh, Anwar Hossain delivered a number of memorable performances, including \u201cJoy Bangla\u201d, \u201cNijere Haraye Khuji\u201d, \u201cLalon Fokir\u201d, \u201cOrunodoyer Ognishakkhi\u201d, \u201cAlo Tumi Aleya\u201d, \u201cGolapi Ekhon Train-e\u201d, \u201cDevdas\u201d, \u201cRajlokkhi Shrikanto\u201d and \u201cDayi Ke\u201d. His last work in our film industry was \u201cGhani\u201d.
\nAnwar Hossain received the National Film Awards for best actor for his brilliant work in the film \u201cLathiyal\u201d, and again for \u201cGolapi Ekhon Train-e\u201d, as supporting actor. He once again was awarded the National Film Award for the film \u201cDayi Ke\u201d and was awarded BACHSAS Award.
\nLast year, the prominent actor was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award in National Film Award for his vital role in our film industry.<\/p>\n
