National Film Award<\/em>
\nJaya named best actress<\/strong>
\n<\/a>This is for the second consecutive time that Jaya Ahsan has won the National Film Award in the best actress category.
\nThis year she clinched the award for her performance in Redoan Rony\u2019s film Chorabali, according to an information\u00a0ministry gazette issued on February 6.
\nLast year, Jaya won the\u00a0award in the same category for her performance in the protagonist character\u00a0in Nasiruddin Yusuff\u2019s war of independence-based film Guerrilla.
\nThough last year Jaya was confident of winning the national award, she said she was not confident enough to win the award this year.
\n\u2018It is often seen that best actor and actress awards are given for roles in films that are not commercial when Chorabali is completely a commercial film,\u2019 Jaya Ahsan told New Age.
\nIn Chorabali, Jaya played the role of a young courageous journalist who brought in light the activities of a mafia group. Kolkata-based actor Indraneil Sengupta and popular Bangladeshi actors ATM Shamsuzzaman and Shahiduzzaman Selim also acted in the film.
\n\u2018I am really happy and a little bit surprised to win the award. It is a pleasure for me that two vastly different roles in two substantially different films have earned me the best actress awards in successive years,\u2019 Jaya said.
\n\u2018Getting award always brings new responsibilities, new commitments,\u2019 she added.
\nThe actress now is working in Animesh Aich\u2019s film Zero Degree, where actor Mahfuz Ahmed works opposite to her.
\n\u2018At present I am working only in Zero Degree. This film has a wonderful story- a sort of psychic thriller,\u2019 said Jaya.
\nOnce a popular and celebrated small screen actress, Jaya is totally involved in films at present. \u2018Film is more challenging and rewarding than other media. I would like to take the challenge,\u2019 Jaya Ahsan said.
\nJaya Ahsan started her career as a model in 1990s. From then on to the middle of 2005, she appeared in acclaimed television serials like Amader Chhato Nadi, Chaita Pagol, Labanya Prova, Tebhaga, Sangshay and many more.
\nOn the big screen, Jaya was first seen in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki\u2019s Bachelor. Jaya also appeared in Nurul Alam Atik\u2019s Dubshata, Tanim Noor\u2019s Phirey Esho Behula, Shafi Uddin Shafi\u2019s Purna Dourgha Prem Kahini.
\nJaya Ahsan has also made debut in a Kolkata film Aborto, directed Charu Sen.<\/p>\n
