The National Board of Revenue received Tk 157.62 crore from 24,342 taxpayers on the fourth day of the weeklong income tax fair across the country on Friday, the weekly holiday, when more visitors crowded the fair venues than the earlier days.\u00a0Income tax collection was Tk 161.53 crore on Thursday while 15,314 taxpayers submitted their income tax returns on the day.\u00a0The NBR collected Tk 475.40 crore in income tax from the fair on Wednesday, the highest amount so far in four days.
\nOn Friday, as many as 1,04,970 people received different services from the fair across the country while the number of visitors was 98,630 on Thursday.
\nDespite the increased number of visitors at the fair on the day, the revenue board got less amount of tax as number of return submissions by the large taxpayers was less than the previous day, NBR officials told New Age on the fair venue at Officers Club in the capital.
\nThe officials, however, expected more crowds and increased amount of tax collection from the taxpayers on Saturday, the second day of weekend.
\nThey said that the number of visitors was higher before the jumma prayers and at the late hours of the fair.
\nDespite huge number of crowd, the visitors did not faced problem as the number of booths for e-TIN registration, re-registration, e-payment and income tax return filing was sufficient to cope with the situation, they said.
\nMost of the visitors expressed their satisfaction with the overall process except delay in the queue of the return submission booths.
\nMd Samsuzzoha, a visitor coming from Uttara, said most of the process was quite smooth except the delay of the return submission booths.
\nIt took almost half-an-hour to get the return submission receipt, he said.
\nE-TIN registration desks were found quite busy with visitors on the queue as the national budget for the financial year 2014-15 made e-TIN registration mandatory for filing income tax returns.
\nOn Friday, 1,658 people enlisted themselves as new taxpayers through receiving online taxpayer identification number and 1,531 existing taxpayers re-registered e-TINs, the number was 3,460 and 3,142 respectively on Thursday.
\nTill Friday, as many as 3,46,839 people received different services on the fair venues across the country and the NBR got around Tk 931.49 crore in income tax as 69,700 taxpayers submitted income tax returns, the NBR data said.
\nIn the first four days, 9,332 people took e-TINs while 6,810 taxpayers replaced their existing TINs with e-TINs, it showed.
\nOn the fair venues, there are e-TIN registration booths, re-registration booths, e-payment booths, income tax return filing booths, help and inquiry desks to facilitate taxpayers in receiving services.
\nThe fair remains open for the visitors from 10:00am to 5:00pm
