The programme titled Nirbachito Uccharon was organised by recitation organisation Charubak. The programme featured Charubak artistes who presented solo recitations. Baten Al Mamun began the show with his presentation of Amar Gourab, a very popular patriotic poem by Nirmalendu Goon.

Sumaiya Sadika Jyoti presented Shamsur Rahman’s Ekti Photograph, a poem about a father’s grief on the death of his son. Jyoti’s presentation of the poem in her powerful voice received loud applauses. She also presented Syed Shamsul Haque’s poem Tobu Beche Thaka Apurup.

Abdullah Al Mamun Limon recited Syed Shamsul Haque’s Amio Tomar Moto Hobo Swechhachari in his stentorian voice. The poem, which loathes the corrupt and autocratic rulers, delighted the audience.

Samia Islam Nijhum’s presentation of Shamsur Rahman’s iconic poem Swadhinota Tumi invoked passion. Fouzia Zaman Nisa’s recitation of Nirmalendu Goon’s Ekti Khola Kobita and Naimul Islam Naim’s Syed Shamsul Haque’s Ami Bhrammoman earned audience acclaim.

The other artistes who recited at the programme were Jinnatul Islam, Samapti Mandal, Joy Majumdar, Afroza Kona, Mohammad Yousuff Haider and Shamima Nasrin Mitu among others.

Earlier in the programme, a brief discussion session was held where noted recitation artiste Bhaswar Bandopadhyay and Ismail Sadi, organising secretary of Charubak, delivered speeches.

‘Charubak has been working to popularise Bangle poems since 1991. And in doing so, we organise programmes on great poets of the country. This time, we have selected Shamsur Rahman, Nirmalendu Goon and Syed Shamsul Haque, as all of them are legendary poets of the country,’ said Debashish Rupan, president of Charubak, to New Age.
