Bangladesh national cricket team on Sunday reached Potchefstroom to play the first of their two Test matches against hosts South Africa in their forthcoming series.
\nThe Tigers left Benoni at 11:00am local time and after a short journey of two hours, they reached Potchefstroom in the afternoon for the first Test, beginning on September 28.Bangladesh played a Test match at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom during their first visit to South Africa in 2002 when they lost by an innings and 160 runs.
\nNone of the players from the current squad were part of that match.
\nBangladesh also played a one-day international against South Africa at the same ground during their last visit in 2008 when Mohammad Ashraful and Sakib al Hasan hit two fifties in a 61-run defeat.
\nTamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim played the game with Tamim taking one of the finest catches of his career, offered by Jacques Kallis.
\nThe Tigers will be pleased to see Tamim regaining his fitness after a recent injury scare on his return to the picturesque town, south-west of Johannesburg.
\nTamim pulled his muscles while batting on the first day of the drawn three-day warm-up match in Benoni and left the ground retired hurt after scoring five off 13 deliveries.
\nHis opening partner Soumya scored 43 runs in the first innings but did not turn up in the second innings as he received a blow on his shoulder while he was fielding on the third day.
\nBangladesh team physio Thihan Chandramohan confirmed that there was no serious worry about both players and they were kept out of the field only as a precaution.
\nThe second Test will be held at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein from October 6 to 10.<\/p>\n
