\nCristiano Ronaldo has announced the death of his newborn son in a statement posted Monday on social media.
\nThe Manchester United forward, 37, was expecting twins with his partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28, but revealed on social media that she had given birth to a girl, while\u00a0their son died.
\nThe post states: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
\n“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
\n“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.”\u00a0“We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
\n“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.” Ronaldo concluded the statement, signing off with his and Georgina\u2019s names.
