\nShivkumar Sharma was born in Jammu in 1938. He is considered to be the first musician to play Indian classical music on the santoor, which is a folk instrument from Jammu and Kashmir.
\nThe santoor maestro composed the background music for one of the scenes of film Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje in 1956 and recorded his first solo album in 1960.
