Four members of a family were injured in a fire followed by an explosion in Old Dhaka’s Agasadek Lane early today.
\nThe injured — Israfil Hussain (62), his wife Salma Begum (50), their son Imran (30) and daughter Shahzadi (24) were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with 20 to 50 percent burn injuries.
\nhe family were sleeping when the explosion occurred around 4:45am on the ground floor of a four-storey building near ‘Bangladesh Playground.’
\nHearing screams, locals rushed there and took them to the hospital, said Tarif Alarm, a nephew of Israfil.
\nAll the belongings inside the house were damaged in the explosion, he said.
\nShahjahan Shikder, deputy assistant director of Fire Service Media cell, said on information fire service reached to the spot and took one of the injured to the hospital.
\nFire officials are investigating to know the cause of the explosion.<\/p>\n
