\nAccording to Grameenphone the latest ban on SIM sales from the telecom watchdog was unexpected. The operator will decide how to proceed after reviewing the regulator’s letter relating to the suspension.
\nThe leading telecom operator was directed not to sell new SIM cards by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on June 29, who said that the operator had failed to deliver quality service.
\nccording to BTRC, the operator will be unable to sell any new SIM cards until call drop rates are lowered and service quality is increased.
\nIn a statement the operator said, Grameenphone has been complying to and maintaining a significant lead over both the international benchmark set by the International Telecommunication Union and the regulator’s quality of service\u00a0criteria.
\n‘In addition, GP has been working closely with BTRC to modernize the network and improve network quality and service by acquiring the highest allowable spectrum in the recent auction and taking a series of network modernisation steps.’
\nIn light of this, we are presently evaluating this most recent unexpected letter to decide what to do next.
