1 held for question leak in Dinajpur
Primary and ibtedayi education completion examinations began on Wednesday amid allegation that question paper was leaked in Dinajpur.
The police arrested a coaching centre director Masud Rana in Dinajpur town in connection with the alleged leak of question. Dinajpur Kotwali police officer-in-charge Abdul Kader Jilani said that Masud Coaching Centre director Masud Rana was found distributing questions among students before the examinations began and he got the questions by short message service.
In the capital some guardians of Mohammapur area said that at least 70 per cent of short suggestions prepared by some coaching centres matched the mathematics question paper on the first day of examinations.
About 1.6 lakh students were absent in the first day of the examinations, said primary and mass education ministry control room.
Of the absentees, 1.13 lakh were from primary schools and 46,500 from madrassahs.
Afsarul Ameen, who resigned as primary and mass education minister and Motahar Hossain, who resigned as primary and mass education state minister visited Manipur School and College centre on the day.
This year 29.50 lakh students — 26.35 lakh, including 14.20 lakh girls, from primary schools and 3.15 lakh, including 1.57 lakh girls, from madrassahs — had registered to take the terminal examinations.
Examinations were held from 11:00am to 1:30pm at the 6,566 centres across the country. Students with physical disabilities got 20 more minutes.
This year the duration of examinations for Class V students had increased by 30 minutes.
According to the schedule, the students will take Bangla exam today, English on November 24, Bangladesh and global studies on November 25, basic science on November 27 and religious studies on November 28.
About 19 lakh candidates of the Junior School Certificate examinations and equivalent examinations took exam on physical education on the day.
