At least ten people, including three members of a family, were killed and 11 others injured in separate traffic accidents in the country on Saturday and Friday.
In Comilla, five people were killed and 10 others were injured in near Tipra bazaar in the Cantonment area on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were Roksana, her sister Farzana and Farzana’s husband Arif Hossain, of village Gandra under Muradnagar upazila, Nazrul, hailing from Rangpur, and the other could not identified immediately.
The Maynamati highway police officer-in-charge, Mashiur Rahman, said that a Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, a motorbike and several rickshaws and overturned, leaving five dead and 10 injured on the spot at about 5:30pm.
In Faridpur, two others were killed and another was injured as a truck ran over them in Nagarkanda area on Saturday.
The deceased were Sabuj, 22, and Rakib, 14.
The Nagarkanda police subinspector, Mahmud Hasan Molla, said the truck hit the roadside shops and left two dead and one injured on the spot.
In Narail, a motorcycle rider was killed and another injured in Kalnaghat area on the Narail-Kalna Highway under Lohagora upazila of the district on Friday evening, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Walier Rahman Sheikh, 60, son of Abdul Malek Sheikh of Char-Kalna village of the upazila.
Police and eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a pickup van hit a motorcycle in the area.
In Jessore, two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar and Monirampur upazila of the district on Friday, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Imrul Hossain, 30, son of Ihshan Ali of Dowlotdhihi village under Sadar upazila and Faruque Hossain, 40, son of Abdus Sobhan of Uttar Lauri village in Monirampur upazila.
Police and eyewitnesses said the first accident occurred in front of Kazi Nazrul Islam Degree College on Jessore-Jhenaidah Highway under Sadar upazila while a truck hit a motorcycle, leaving motorcycle rider Imrul injured seriously.
Imrul was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors
declared him died.
