A 1000-bed multi-disciplinary and specialised hospital will be established under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at a cost of $122.25 million.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday between the Korean government and the university on fact-finding mission for feasibility study of establishment of a multi-disciplinary and super-specialised 1,000-bed hospital at BSMMU.
The MoU was signed by the university vice-chancellor, Pran Gopal Datta, and Sujeong Choi, mission leader of Economic Development Cooperation Fund of Export-Import Bank of Korea.
BSMMU will provide the land while the Korean government will develop the hospital establishment.
According to the deal, the feasibility study should be completed within five months and the hospital establishment would be completed by 2017.
The hospital will have the facilities including — 100-bed intensive care unit, 50-bed coronary care unit, 50-bed high dependency unit, 50-bed neonatal intensive care unit, 50-bed paediatric intensive care unit, 10-modular operation theatre complex and bone marrow transplantation unit.
