The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday issued no objection certificates to 12 Dhaka Stock Exchange members keen to
vie for the posts of the four directors of the bourse.
Earlier on Sunday, the DSE election commission submitted their letters of interest after they had individually submitted them.
The DSE board on April 19 announced that the election would be held on June 10.
According to the election schedule, the candidates will submit their nomination papers within May 27 after getting NOCs from the BSEC. The election commission will publish the list of eligible candidates on that day.
June 2 has been fixed as the last date to withdraw the nomination papers.
The candidates interested to participate in the election are Lutfur Rahman Badal of Latif Securities, Shamim Afjal of Desa Securities, Suja Uddin Ahmad of Securities Broking and Management Services, Dastagir Mohammad Adil of Adil Securities, Monzur Uddin Ahmed of M and Z Securities, Shahudul Huque Bulbul of Bulbul Securities, Shafi Anwar Hossain of Shohidullah Securities, Kazi Firoz Rashid of Kazi Firoz Rashid Securities, Khujesta Noor-e-Nahreen of Modern Securities, Khondokar Asadul Islam of City Brokerage, Md Ajijul Haque of B and B Enterprise and Shahed Abdul Khalek of Shahed Securities.
Of the 25 directors of the DSE, 12 are elected and 12 are nominated by different business bodies while the chief executive officer of the bourse is the other one.
Every year four elected directors retire from their posts.
This year two-year terms of DSE president Rakibur Rahman and Ahmed Iqbal Hasan, Khwaja Ghulam Rasul and Sharif Ataur Rahman will end.
