A mobile court sentenced 13 people to different terms from 15 days to three months for gambling in the city’s Hazaribagh early Friday.
They are Rawshan Ali, 55, Abdul Quader, 29, Badsha, 50, Jafar Hossain, 28, Barkat, 36, Abed Ali, 42, Khairul Bashar, 42, Harun-ur-Rashid, 43, Badsha, 35, Ashraf, 30, Abdul Aziz, 40, Babul Hossain, 38, and Mizanur Rahman, 40.
ASI Mainul of Dhanmondi police station was also found playing gambling. He was handed over to Dhanmondi police station for departmental action.
The mobile court, led by Rab headquarters executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha, conducted the drive in a room on the ground floor of a three-storey building at Baddanagar Lane under Hazaribagh police station.
Anwar Pasha said that the room was being used as a drug den where they conducted drive at around 1.00am on Friday and found 13 people playing gamble there.
The magistrate said Rawshan rented the room and had been using it as a gambling spot.
He was jailed for three months, while 12 others for 15 days.
