Fourteen people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla, Tangail and Natore on Sunday and Monday.
In Comilla, four people were killed in a road accident in Barpara area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Daudkandi upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Md. Utzzal, 25, Al-Amin, 24, Md. Polash, 27, and Sumon Mia, 22.
Police said the accident took place when a Comilla-bound pickup van collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound car, killing the four young men on the spot.
Soon after the accident, angry local people put barricade on the road disrupting vehicular movement for nearly an hour.
Police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Comilla medical college hospital for post-mortem. They seized the killer van but its driver managed to flee.
New Age correspondent in Natore reported that five people were killed and 16 others wounded in two separate road accidents in the district on Monday.
Four people were killed and 15 injured in an accident when a speeding bus collided head-on with a truck at Nayabazar area on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway.
Besides, a motor cycle rider was killed at Chandpur area on Natore-Rajshahi highway on Monday morning.
Police said a Kushtia-bound bus from Dhaka hit a Dhaka bound mango-laden truck from Rajshahi at around 5.30 am at Nayabazar area under Gurudaspur police station.
Two passengers of the bus were killed on the spot. The deceased were identified as Lokman Ali, 18, son of Khodabox of Radha Nagar village under Islami University police station in Kushtia and Samsul Sarker, 55, son of late Hoque Sarker of Filip Nagar village under Daulatpur police station in the same district. Police seized the bus and truck.
Among the injured, 15 were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, sources said.
New Age correspondent in Tangail reported that four people were killed and three others critically injured when the Ekota Express train hit a Nasimon at Vanua Boho rail crossing on Sohag Para-Kolimjani road under Mirzapur upazila on Sunday.
Mirzapur police station officer-in-charge Habibullah Sarker said that the collision took place when the Dhaka-bound Ekota Express hit the Nasimon on the crossing, leaving the four passengers of Nasimon dead on the spot.
The deceased were Mohammad Wahab, 32, son of Tuku Miah of Kolimjani village under the upazila, Sakhina Begum 65, wife of Mobarok Hossain of the same village, Abdur Rahman, son of Abdul Hakim of Path Hara village and Sajoni Ghosh of Chandhuli village of the upazila in Tangail.
Besides, a man was killed at Dewhata on Dhaka-Jamuna highway under Mirzapur upazilain Tangail on Sunday at about 10am when a speeding truck ran over a passerby when he was crossing the road.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak Pathu.
