Some 15 fruit shops were burnt in a fire that broke out at Bansh Bazar in the city’s Shanirakhra area Friday morning. Fire service sources said the fire originated from a cigarette butt at a shop around 8:00am and it soon engulfed the adjoining ones.
On information, three firefighting units rushed in and doused the blaze after an hour of efforts with the help of locals.
Shop owners worked out the losses caused by the fire to Tk 2 lakh.
