Two journalists of Maasranga Television channel were mugged at Jatrabari on early Sunday.
Muggers injured one and snatched away his laptop. The police
arrested two muggers named Robin and Sohag.
The victims are special reporter Ashraful Islam and senior cameraperson Gautam Kumar Sinha. Of them, Gautam sustained knife injuries.
The journalists were returning to Dhaka after covering the prime minister’s programme in Comllia. As they reached Kutubkhali near Jatrabari at about 12:30am, their car was stuck in a traffic jam and at one stage, some 10-12 muggers attacked the car and injured the cameraman and took away the laptop, said Maasranga TV reporter Riaz Raihan.
Later they filed a general dairy with Jatrabari police station at night and the TV authorities also filed a case in this connection.
The laptop has some valuable video softwares and clips worth about Tk seven lakhs.
Jatrabari police officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam said ‘police arrested two muggers but could not recover the laptop.
