22 drivers fined
A mobile court yesterday fined 22 drivers a total of Tk 5,500 on different charges including careless driving and talking over the mobile phone while driving on the approach road to Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail.
Of the 22, the drivers of passenger buses and goods-laden trucks, who were seen talking over the mobile phone while driving, were fined Tk 300 each under motor vehicle ordinance. The others were fined Tk 200 each for careless driving.
Maj Mahfuzul Haque, commander of Crime Prevention Company-3 of Rapid Action Battalion-12, said Rab members and police sergeants launched the mobile court drive at Rabna bypass of sadar upazila in the morning.
“All should know that from now on we’ll continue this type of operation to create awareness among the drivers,” he added.
